This. The original Droid was the flagship Android phone on Verizon. Now it's the Droid X.Arguably the X stands on top of Verizons smart phone food chain. I have little doubt it wont be coming to it.
What I heard at one of our product trainings was that if the device had a 1 GHz proc. and at least a 4" screen those were the requirements for gingerbread. Once again speculation but if that is true the X meets both requirements.

Honestly these software updates are no big deal. Froyo was not a big improvement over the previous. Everyone gets all excited about the latest, greatest software but then they come out and the improvements are minimal.
Once you get fab's new apex rom I really dont even see the need for gingerbread. My phone runs like a beast and has pretty much the complete gingerbread UI, who needs the real gingerbread?
Evidently you guys didn't get the memo but Verizon employees sure did. Droid and Droid X does Ginger bread!
Gingerbread headed to Verizon Android phones within the coming months

I promise we will get Gingerbread!![]()

That is entirely wrong. Being the fact the bootloader is locked we cannot update the kernel. If Gingerbread includes an updated kernel you would have to port the OS to use the motorola kernel. This would likely lose some features and changes from the updated. Also, since there is only one AOSP Froyo rom being developed and it still isn't out, I wouldn't expect that to be easy.
Root gets you very little.
Wow, I have a completely different outlook on froyo... full flash gave Android a huge advantage over other OS's, the streamlined power manager gave my device noticeably improved battery life, and a wifi hotspot... all in one update? ?? You must be kidding me!
We'll be hard pressed to find another update that improves a device that significantly. That was the big one if you ask me.
