Droid X gets smoother over time

I've had my Droid X since Tuesday and since then my phone has gotten faster everyday. Im talking about things such as scrolling through screens and the app drawer. Stuff like that.

So if anyone is coming from a really snappy 2.2 Droid like myself give it time!

I just played with it in the store, the thing was a snail. And the screen was not as responsive as my incredible or my EVO! First time I'm doing this......I'm going to wait! After a few days of reviews I'll decide on whether or not to pull the trigger.

Im just saying if some people are disappointed by the speed of the device just wait a day or two and it will be really snappy.

It's like the phone needs to adjust to your setup or something.

It needs to assimilate.

Just an FYI, I went to 3 different stores when the Incredible was released: 1st one had a fast phone. 2nd one was absurdly slow and I couldn't do anything to fix it. 3rd store had another blazing fast one.

What's the moral? Check a different store, cause clearly some of the test models have something wrong with them... maybe people before you messed them up somehow....

This is truly odd... I can't even begin to venture a guess as to what may cause this.

My X is flying through everything. I'm not using a live wallpaper at the moment, and I'm switching between Launcher Pro and the Stock Moto UI. It froze twice when trying to voice commands, but other than that it is performing fast and flawlessly.

Im also using Auto Task Killer often.

It true, there are dedicated fanboi's that will go into the store to check it out and sabotage them by launching infinite apps, etc. Usually they can be seen with locked down phone with a glass front and back that scratches easily. :D

Agreed. Probably way too many apps running in the background. Reboot the thing and try it again.

Try it without the task killer for a while, I can almost guarantee that it will be even better.

And in 90% of noob use, it will cause additional problems.

Typically if a task is backgrounded, you don't worry about it. I should have been more clear. A lot of these guys will up every single sync source to the max, and make for a bad experience in the demo.

Reality is typically not like that.

hehe
its actually pretty simple, im surprised none of you caught onto it.

the phone builds a cache for the apps you open, the very first time you open them. Your storage card should have had only 2 files before you bought it. with use, android starts writing to the card. Once these files are built, you wont experience the lag(while it was building its cache).

2 files? Are you talking about the in-phone memory? You have to manually mount the SD from the menu after attaching to a pc.

But your point is valid!

I've noticed that this X is way snappier, out of the box, than my Droid Incredible!

Guys Im sorry and I honestly feel like an idiot but I really noticed the speed increase today for the most part.

Only thing I changed is I used a regular wallpaper instead of the Droid X live wallpaper.

Anyone else switch to a fixed wallpaper and notice a difference. Again Im sorry I feel like an idiot!

Also yes Ive seen people loading down demo devices to bring them to a crawl.

Usually the store models are always slower because people download everything on it.

My App drawer is slow and choppy until the apps gets loaded and cached. Same with other things like scrolling through list it seems to be loading them and ding a pretty bad jobs of it. It's obviously poor coding so maybe they'll work it out later.

The live wallpapers will slow things down a bit.

Hmmm I wonder if I copied an old cache from my old SD card thats causing the slow downs. Damn now I have to wipe it and start over. :D

Yeah, don't use a task killer. The phone was designed to handle it on own.

Check my battery thread, my battery is fine after abusing it ALL day and the phone isnt lagging either.

I owned the Incredible and I will say this phone has been every bit as fast so far today, no complaints. My brother-in-law has the EVO, and we were comparing our phones and his phone wasn't faster than mine when scrolling or opening apps, mine wasn't really faster than his either though.

Well you know how it is when you install a new ROM on the Droid you got let it set in.:) So this may be something happening along the same lines
