.::Droid X Lounge::.

Greetings.

New Droid owner as of a day ago. 3 year iphone user and con-vert. Let me just tell you all that this "aint" no iphone and that's good and bad. Bad because I'm so used to no-brainer applications, organization, and simplicity. Good because I see HUGE potential with Android.

Now I just need to figure out how to use it! It sounds like there are unlimited possibilities with my new Droid X.

I need a cigarette...

Take your time... ask questions. Don't be ashamed to. There's a learning curve with Android. One thing that took me a while to figure out was to "long press" on an item for the context menu. Also what is revealed by pressing the menu button changes from screen to screen. That's a biggie. Long pressing the HOME menu gives you all of your open programs. Good luck!

Loving my X! Can't get enough of it. Even when I have nothing to do on it, I just scroll back and forth between the screens....and sometimes, even when I really in the mood for some fun, I open up the app drawer and scroll up and down with the 3D effect (loving Launcher Pro)!

When reviewing this phone, I haven't heard anyone of us, besides you, mention anything about the brag factor. Shame. Shame on us all! ;)

I was playing in a poker tournement the other day and an EVO owner saw my phone and was like that is that the droid....?

I was like UHHH no this is the Droid X!!!!

He was like how did you get it? did you just get here? (deployed overseas)

I was like no i got it online right when it came out and had my wife sent it to me.

The next two hands i took the guy out. i believe it was the power of the X

(i went to get third place that night)

Anyone coming from other Android devices notice that Motorola made it so that the Droid X doesn't tell you how much % of your battery use individual applications are responsible for? It now only says major phone components like screen, idle time, etc.. It doesn't specify any apps.

Hello all,

We just switched our business account over to verizon from sprint. I got the orig droid 1st, it was awesome but I kept getting complaints from ppl saying I sounded muffled. So I switched to the Incredible. It too was awesome. A little weird getting used to the onscreen keyboard. Finally saw the release of the X. Told my rep that was the one I wanted.

I remember the customer service rep at Verizon commenting on me being spoiled that the account showed 3 different droid phones in less that 2 weeks. lol

I have to say the Android phones are awesome and right now the X is king of the hill.

I even have my buddy with his iphone a bit jealous at what it can do. I showed him the quake game and his jaw dropped. lol

LOVE THIS FREAKIN PHONE!

Yeah this phone is definitely awesome. I've shown it off to a few friends and even made my EVO buddy jealous when I told him my phone lasted me from the time I woke up til the time I went to bed without a charge and was still 50% battery power left heheh. So far I can't complain. The minor inconveniences of this phone pale in comparison to my last phone (HTC Imagio).

So far the DX people seem pretty chill though there are a few people whom you can tell that all they want to do is come on here and gripe about their phone. Kinda defeats the point of everything.....if it's THAT bad for them they should go back to their old phone lol.

I called Motorola to tell them to fix that in an update, along with the loud-speaker that's really a soft-speaker! ;)

My speaker doesn't seem all that low...it's not blazing loud but not that low. If anything, I've been concerned a couple times because during calls, it can get loud to the point where I feel the speaker is mildly crackling.

Your right about the X owners not complaining because the X is a great device without major launch issues. Not like the Dinc launch with all the issues it had and still has. I went thru 2 Incredibles before I purchase the X and by far it is the best device I have owned in a long time.

Quick first post in the lounge so the forum will stop bugging me to be social! Ordered my X on the 25th, but I'm pretty sure I've got a week and some to wait :(

I've seen a lot of complaining about the X actually - they just all get moved to the Support/Trouble-shooting.

I own both devices and found the Incredible to be better than the X. I have no issues with my Incredible. But I find the X's UI, washed out screen, and mushy physical buttons are pretty bad for one.

yeah, this thing is definitely an attention getter. people see it and either know what it is or want to know what it is.

This is kinda pathetic... every time I see a fed-ex truck go down Bethany Ln I run to the door, like a kid going after the ice cream man, hoping he pulls in to deliver my phone

I'm ready to get rid of this crap iPhone 3G I've been using. Ready to convert to a fulltime android user. Expect lots of questions.

I just spent like 20 minutes making a custom group of contacts so that I could have my scrollable contact widget only display people that I call that have Facebook photos.

Talk about OCD :(

How do you make a scrollable contact widget? I have individual contact widgets but not scrollable. Very cool. Thanks.

I love the idea of this! No mods to come in a slap us on the wrists for being Off Topic in here! I'm prone to being off topic anyway...

random question: does the dx play .avi files? or would they have to be converted to .mp4?

I've heard that Rock Player, available for free from the Market, will play avi's. However, I just Handbrake to encode them into mp4's. Also, this isn't really the best thread for getting a question answered; try going to the Troubleshooting area, or just search, which usually works.

Steven is at the gym, so enjoy it while you can :D

Seriously though, the relaxed format of this forum is really nice. Steven is off topic himself on occaision so he's like "one of us" :)

You guys ARE my forum friends. I Am one of you. I don't have to remind you guys of the rules and tell you not to spam, be rude, flame or other nonsense. I can relax in here. :)

I don't have to be your babysitter! :)
