Droid X or Droid Incredible?

So I'm going to upgrade my phone today. I was going to get the HTC Thunderbolt, but I'm sick of waiting, don't really want to pay $250 for it, and just learned yesterday that my area won't get 4g until 2012. This being so, i'm going to upgrade my phone today and need some advice from the experts. I'm looking at the Droid Incredible (which is free @ best buy rn) and it appears that it has basically the same stats as the thunderbolt, minus .3 inches on the screen and like 256mb ram. Im also looking at the Droid x because that's what initially wanted before the thunderbolt. I like everything about it except the bootloader thing. Does that mean I can't upgrade to Froyo? Also the fact
That there's no front camera, but other than that everything is awesome. I'd just like some tips before I get either of them, so yeah. Which one should I get?

Tl;dr: Droid x or incredible

Droid x has a larger screen and is made out of better materials. However, if you do not want a larger phone then Inc is fine.

X comes with Froyo, if you meant gingerbread than I don't think either the Inc or X have been confirmed of getting it, as of yet.

Yeah, I'd say spend some time in the store hands on. And at least since you're just comparing the two, you'll have the 14 days if you decide the one you didn't get was a better fit. ($35 restocking fee, though) I had both and I prefer the Incredible and its software, but miss the size of the X. Come on, TB!

They're both great devices, though.

I'd personally recommend the Droid X. You MUST make sure that the 4.3" screen is fine for you. Web browsing is definitely nicer on the Droid X because of the lack of PenTile matrix.

Text is also sharper on the DX as Vihzel just mentioned. I've had both and prefer the DX because of the crisper larger screen. HTC Sense is GREAT, but the DX can easily be made just as fine with a home screen replacement like Laucher Pro +. I found the 3.7" INC. screen to be too cramped for me to easily text. It's larger than the iPhone 3.5" screen (just as a comparison), but that's misleading because it's narrower and longer. Just something to think about.

Alright, thanks guys. I'm probably gonna go with the x, one of my friends has it and I really like it, and after playing on the incredible for a bit, the keyboard is just too small for my hands. Thanks.

The Incredible uses a Super LCD now and no longer has PenTile matrix as that was part of the AMOLED display.

If you can, try to go to a corporate store to try the real items out with a side-by-side comparison. If you go to a big box retailer like WalMart, all they have are dummy phones.

You won't regret getting an X.

Oh really? Didn't know that it was changed. Thanks for the info.

Yes vihzel - that was one of the changes, when HTC dropped the AMOLED screens. My Droid Incredible is one of the original ones, with the utterly GORGEOUS screen. Power hungry, by lovely to look at. :)

Glad to see you've decided on the X. I forgot to mention that HTC sense is better than blur. However custom launchers are better than both

lets not forget that rooting and putting a Rom on the Dx makes that blur less painful. I'm running Apex's new 1.4 rt now and i like it for the most part.

I have both. Both are great phones. I am using the X because of the larger screen. I use Zeam launcher on the X and stick with Sense on the Inc. Sense is a VERY nice launcher. The Inc has a bit nicer external speaker and moves very smooth. But overall the size of the screen on the X trumps any advantages the Inc had.

Droid x for sure. And a Verizon salesman told me the droid x will be getting the 2.3 update.

Thing is, when it comes to Verizon sales reps, you have to take what they tell you with a gigantic grain of salt. ;)

They also told my wife and I that the Fascinate was getting the Froyo 2.2 update by the end of the year. Last year, to be clear.

Speaking of VZW reps. I went in to a corporate store Friday to check out the Xoom (that's for another discussion) and the female rep was very nice we spoke for a few mins about the Xoom and data plans. Then she asked what phone I had and I said the DX. She said "Oh me too" we spoke some more and also about different programs on Android. I took my phone out and turned it on for some reason, can't recall, and when she saw my screen she flipped (I'm running Apex 1.4.1 LPP w/beautiful widgets). She asked me how I got mine to look like that and I told her it was a ROM (I know, not supposed to admit that) and she had no clue. She also said she was running a task killer and wasn't very happy with her battery life. I told her to ditch the task killer and she looked very puzzled. Long story short, most reps have no clue about phone tech.

Yup, most people who work at Verizon(or any carrier) are working there because it just happens to be the job they got, not because they are phone enthusiasts.

Tried both and love my Dx. The big screen is awsome and it real skinny. I like it alot and have zero complaints

I run a Task Killer as well, and I have Apex 1.4.1. I run the task killer because my phone is ALWAYS running crazy apps that, for one, Im not using at the moment, like Funny Jokes, and two i NEVER use. I purchased Advanced Task Killer Pro. Should I not have? Am I being Misled?
