I don't know about you guys, but I like to see proof, otherwise I feel like I'm waiting for nothing. I wouldn't normally believe any random Droid X Article, but he's got a screen shot, so who knows!

Droid X Update 1.13.604 - Does Droid X Faster & Better with Kindle Coming Soon - WIRELESS AND MOBILE NEWS

Also, it seems this OTA will not cover the "Privacy Issue". The issue is that if you erase old calls or texts, they still show up on your phone, no way to get rid of them without Factory Reset. These calls/texts can be found in the Contacts App by swiping left to the Contacts History. They're aware of the problem, and say it's been the same case in previous MotoBlur phones, but no fix in this OTA yet.

How can you call this a minor update?

If what it's referring to really does fix the battery reading problem that so many of us are having, this is a necessity.

The fact that the phone shows the wrong percentage for battery life causes it to permanently shut down until you charge it (falsely), even though it isn't really dead.

There is no reason to manually check for the update, unless you received the notification and ignored/dismissed it.

Manually checking does not force the update to your device.

Not to say you are wrong, but when I had the G1 and we were all getting the 1.5 update, I never received the update message and then I checked it manually and it was there. I am not saying to forces the update, but it can sometimes be there before it gets pushed to the screen at least. Maybe I was just about to get it, idk.

Third that.

Frak that, have you tried plugging it into a car stereo? Nearly blew my ears off! Turn up the speaker, but maybe drop the output of the headphone out a bit. I had my stereo on 5 (of 25) and it sounded like it was cranked. Never seen such a loud output on ANY device I've had.

Motorola Droid X Has Privacy Issues With Text Messages And Call Logs

So in your thing it says you have an eris if so why do you care if the X gets updates or not? jw

Compare the size of the speaker hole/vent on the Droid vs X. the Droid is like 20x bigger. that's why it allow sound to come through better.
the X has a tiny slot to allow the sound from the speaker to come through.
They probably made the hole so small to either
1) improve structural strength or
2) make it look better.

They should've made it bigger and cover it with a mesh like the original Droid (well maybe not a gold colored mesh).

they should have used 2 speakers the one where it is now and put one next to the camera on the hump where nothing is being used for there anyway. That way speaker would have been louder. Just my 2 cents

Is it safe to ASSume the baseband update will improve signal strength? Im on 01.09.01P.

All the retail phones seem to be on 01.09.02P.

So you think that fixing the battery display constitutes a major change?

I do!! Mine just showed 15% and it rebooted now it shows 50% but I was expecting it to really be 15% since I was on it non-stop today, now to actually find out it really has 50% after all that playing around on it really says something about the true battery life of one of these things.

I could not agree more... I am debating whether or not to take this to a store to see how it compares to other droid x phones i can hardly hear this damn thing. Other than that the phone is spectacular.

HEY VERIZON OR MOTO, PLEASE FIX THE SPEAKER, ITS WAAAAY TOO SOFT. I NEED MORE LOUDS kthnxbye

The thing that checking it does is that you can "catch" it downloading. But it was already downloading to begin with. When it finished, it would have told you about the update.

Why does it say "Improved battery charging status indicator." Shouldn't it say "ADDS" battery charging status indicator?

If you turn the phone off then plug it up, a large battery with sloshing acid is the charge indicator and also the lightning bolt thru the battery on the screen when its turned on is also an indicator. So technically it is improved and also adding one as well.

Not true. Many of us with the original Droid (including me), manually checked for updates when 2.1 came out and it showed there being an update before any notification popped up on its own. I randomly checked the night after the first people received it, and lo and be hold I got 2.1! Not to say that everyone should be compulsive about checking for the updates. But, it does work for some of us. Whether we were going to receive the update in 5 minutes from when we checked or not, no one will know.
