Root Droid X stuck in boot logo

I am really starting to freak out, I think I may have bricked my Droid X (as of about two hours ago), I was using liberty 2.0.1 and decided to go to the nightly gingerbread versions. I made a back up and wiped my data and cache then proceeded. Everything was working fine, I just decided I didn't like how much blur was in it and decided to go back to Liberty 2.01. I went to download rom from the liberty toolbox and selected the top option, Liberty 2.0.1. I selected make a back up and clear data and cache. After it finished everything and started to boot, it was stuck on the Liberty logo (not the second one that spins, but the first that is just a picture of the logo). I managed to get back to the options of backup and restore, reboot now, apply update.zip, etc. by pulling the battery. First I tried reboot now, that didn't work, it got stuck on the liberty logo. Then I tried restore (and selected one with the date that I backed up the Gingerbread ROM. After that finished I noticed restore Liberty_Default and thought that's exactly where I want to go, and restored that immediately after the Gingerbread Liberty one was restored. Then I selected reboot. It is now stuck on the liberty logo, pulling the battery and turning it on returns me to the liberty logo. Pulling the battery and holding home and the power button returns me to the liberty logo. I am really freaking out and have no idea what to do!!! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Please, please, please help!!!

While I'm no expert on rooting a phone it sounds like you probably should get a copy of the SBF file and restore the Droid X to stock. Once back at stock you can restore the ROM that you prefer running on...

I agree, because this is almost identical to the situation I found myself in this past Thursday night. Fortunately, using RSD Lite and an SBF file that I downloaded (VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01.zip), I was able to get my phone back to the point it was at after the last OTA update. The whole thing took me like 10-15 minutes, and was very easy - much easier than rooting my HTC Inspire was.

You weren't on one of the GB leaks were you? If so it's not compatible with those Liberty ROMs on 2.2. I wasn't real sure if you were or not according to your post.

Anyhow, please don't freak out. I know it's hard not to when your device is not doing anything, but there really is no reason to worry. I've been bricked twice, and I was SUPER scared the first time. I really thought I'd screwed the pooch! But once I figured out how to SBF, it was all gravy from there.

Go to the 'All things root' section above and you'll find step by step instructions to getting your phone back to working order again. Trust me, these babies are virtually indestructable. So just take a deep breath and tell yourself everything is going to be alright.

Because it will be.

BAM!

Give a look at those two threads (I got 'em bookmarked, baby)-- all you could ever want to know about rooting, breaking, and fixing your droid x.

By the by, don't worry about breaking your phone-- these phones are really, REALLY hard to permanently screw up. If you're still confused after checking out those two links, someone here will probably be willing to walk you through fixing your phone-- don't fret, it's not gone forever, I assure you.

Factory data/cache wipe is your friend. Embrace the factory data/cache wipe. Learn it, live it, love it.....lol.

O'k, I'm done being a screwball.

Dude I have had my DX for a less than 5 days and I did that twice this weekend. SBF is your friend. It has something to do with the differing Kernels in the GB build v Froyo. Full SBF gets you back...

This is also my first post here... I had an DINC but my Asurion is no longer shipping that out.. So they sent me the DX as a replacement.

How do you unbrick if you're using a Mac? I just bricked my phone, by not wiping, and now it's in a bootloop (2nd time, thank you Lol), but I'm on a Mac now...Someone please help, I have a whole hour to figure this out Lol

TIA

Did you try to boot into recovery and do a data/cache wipe?

Can you choose an option to data / cache wipe from there?

No :(

I had to take the battery out and put it back in, while pressing the camera button + volume down + power button...so I'm on the screen that says:

BootLoader
30.04

Battery OK
OK to Program
Transfer Mode:
USB

I've had this before, and it was easy to fix on a pc...but I'm on a mac right now...

Crap, I've never had that. Maybe someone else can chime in?

Edit: Did you try the Home key & power button. Release power button when logo appears keep the home key pressed. That's how I enter recovery. From there should be the search key to bring it up or if on GB I guess it changed to pressing both volume keys up/down together...

Modesto, I was in the boot loop last night after sbf back to froyo.
I pulled the battery, held down the home key and popped the battery back in. (it was automatically restarting)
while holding down the home key the screen should turn to the triangle with "!" mark in it with the android guy.
let go of the home key and press the "search key" that should get you into recovery.
scroll down to factory reset data/cache. select it.
then select yes.
then reboot when its done.
mined booted just fined after that. with froyo.

hope it helps. It was my first time sbf and I was freaked out also.

I can't thank everyone enough for all the help and advice! I am going to try the SBF thing immediately after school and see if it works. Can't thank everyone here enough for all the help, and so quickly, what a great forum!!!

By buying a Windows computer. I used to have just a Mac, but I ended up buying a Windows computer due to the numerous little things that aren't compatible, like this. Your going to end having to eventually.

Not the only method. If you have an Intel processor, use bootcamp and run windows from there, or you can run dual-boot with linux. Both options are available on Mac. As for me, I have a powerpc processor, so I had to build "frankenpc" in my living room out of spare parts I had laying around and I'm cooling it with a house fan because I didn't have a case to put it in.... works well enough for RSD lol!
