I was gonna install the gingerbread leaks but the website that the sticky brings you to says you need to use the Droid2 bootloader rather than the Droid X Bootstrap recovery. Is this true cuz i really dont feel like spending another $4 just so i can get gingerbread rooted.

Yes this is true.

Use google. :D

I had 100% success by using the DroidX Bootloader and turning USB Debugging OFF when I was using GB. It has been mentioned in many threads that this will work just fine. I don't know what USB Debugging does regarding it, but turning it off (found in the Main Setting Menu under Applications / Development) will allow it to continue to work just fine.

I also found the apk for Droid2 Bootloader in a thread somewhere recently (perhaps even on this site, but it might have been another site too). I think it is similar to Droid2 Bootloader where it was available in the market for $ to support the developer, or it was available outside of the market for free.

As said above, just turn off USB debugging and you'll be fine.

google droid2 bootstrapper, you can get it free from koush's site

I'm not sure... I tried hitting those links a few weeks back and the download links were "not correct".

I can't check 'em from here right now, but I think they got pulled, wanting you to download the apps from the Market.

There not on his site anymore he pulled them you'll have to google it and get it free or buy in the market (I have droid x and droid 2 bootstrapper and they both work on gb droid x bootstrap uncheck usb debugging and it'll work fine)

lol...no disrespect meant but is it ironic that we're all fans of android (a google company) yet we're reluctant to use google first to search for something ......before we make a post on a forum...lol

I do IT work and if no one knows the answer to anything, we say google it google knows all lol. But very true with your statement

Well I tend to look at Google and if I can't get a straight answer, I'll post in a forum, However I do like posting in a forum better seeing as there is always someone out there to help... plus I enjoy how friendly the DX forum is.

I found a link to a free Droid2 Bootloader on the CyanogenMod DroidX wiki. I have to assume this is legit and OK since Koush worked closely with the CM team to get everything working.

if it works for you and see yourself using it alot think about buying the app to support the DEV, with out droid x or droid 2 bootstrapper who knows how we get into where we need to go
