Help Dropped it yet?

I don't want another Drop like my EVO 4G.. it was an explosion of a crack. The worst my sales rep he had ever seen on a Device. It was funny.

Like everyone previously stated.. OTTER BOX baby!

The width of the device helps me grasp it better. Unlike the EVO 4G, which was wider.

dropped my yesterday, it was in my lap in a Jeep SRT8, i was jumping out to look at a location to take some pictures w/ the photo man for my daughters quince...it fell right on the concrete, my wife looked at me and said, "isn't that what you did to your evo so you could get this one?" she shook her head, the case has a pretty big scratch on it, but so far the evo3d is fine....

I've dropped my 4G down concrete stairs, on sidewalks, in the garage, etc... all naked.

Never once did the screen crack, only the implact plastic surrounding the screen took some minor dents.

My GF almost knocked the 3D out of my had yesterday at the parade. I can tell already that the rubberized/ textured backing of the 3D cover really helps!

I'm scared to drop my phone. It's kinda heavy so, I'm afraid that if I drop it, the whole screen will crack! =/

*knocks on wood*

EVO 3D heavy? I took the Otterbox case off of my phone and I was like this thing is so light! Once my case arrives from Seidio I will swap out cases. Sometimes you need a little added protection "Otterbox case," if you know what I mean. Sometimes, you need to go ribbed - Active case...lol.

No, I haven't dropped my EVO 3D yet. Really haven't played with the phone a whole lot.

Just hope someone else doesn't receive the dropped 3VO.

This brings up a good point. Whenever you go to pick up your phone, carefully watch them unbox it. There should be two transparent pieces of tape holding it together that they need to slit before sliding the inner box out.

If these are already cut or peeled back (they will never stick like original again), I highly recommend asking for a sealed unit or waiting.

I dropped mine during the very first contact I had with it... The Sprint employee handed me the box and other accessories, then said congratulations, and proceeded to hand me the phone... With all the other crap in my hands, it just slipped right through my fingers and hit the floor. Thanksfully it was already in the case, but it made such a loud enough noise on the floor that everyone in the store turned to look.

Then literally 20 minutes later someone broke into my car, stole my box, charger, and old Touch Pro2. Thanksfully I had the 3VO with me.

Dang...what a day! ;)

Just dropped mine today at Kings Dominion. While I was walking, I somehow managed to hit the release clip on my OtterBox Defender, so the phone fell smack dab on the concrete. I immediately picked it up to examine it and didn't see anything but I wasn't convinced. So when I got home I took apart the case, cleaned it and the phone inspecting it for any kind of marks.... Not one was found, not one single scratch. This case is no joke.

I removed the case to clean my phone today. I don't recall bumping anything or dropping it, but when I took off the case, I noticed a mark. It looks like I hit something with it as there is an indentation roughly rouchly 1/2 a cm long. Glad I picked up a case on launch day.

So I finally did it & IMO it was the mother of all drops. I was getting out my truck Friday afternoon & had it in my lap. I never do that but for some reason, it was there that day. I'd say it was a 4' + drop, face down, concrete. Turned it over fearing the worse, not a scratch, I thanked my lucky stars, kept it moving. Get home later that night & went to charge it. Charger wouldn't fit. I look at the charging port & it is about 2 cm away from the edge of the phone (hope y'all understand what I'm trying to say. Tried to take pics but too blurry) I used to take apart laptops & put them back together for fun in my younger days & whenever I couldn't get a charge it usually meant it was dislodged from the motherboard. I thought the impact might have did this. I also thought about the many reports of loose ports on the OG Evos. My heart sunk the last 4% of battery drained away. The Mrs looked just as sick as I did but assured me that it probably wasn't what I thought it was. Saturday morning went to the Sprint store with phone & charger. I showed the tech the problem I was having & he echoed what I thought about the motherboard & loose ports on the OG Evo. He goes in the back, comes back out with what looked like the motherboard in hand, (I definitely saw the 3D cameras) & told me to come back in 90. 89 minutes later I'm back, he's walking to me with 2 Evos. Turns out the charging port didn't move, it was like that on all 3vos, I probably never noticed it. Shows me how it's the same distance on both phones. Everything was cool with the phone. Then he asked was I sure it was the charger that came with the phone. I take the charger, look closely at it, it's the charger for my sister's Crackberry. Must of mixed them up on her last visit (HTC sticker came off) He hands me a new one but before I leave, I get an Otterbox. Wouldn't you know, haven't even opened the box yet. Lesson not learned. :(

Yes. I was luging down a hill on a longboard and it fell out of my pocket. Not too bad in terms of damage, but it sure made my decision to buy a case.

My first drop onto a tile floor from a kitchen counter. I was sick. Hit the bottom left corner, and made a small line dent on the metal frame. Barely noticeable. No Damage to form or function. Looking forward to the HTC case with kickstand, and hoping I can wait.

Ugh I just dropped it at work the other day. Damn now the inner ring is morphed and the other side has two ugly scratches. Wat is Sprints policy on drops and replacements?

Droped mine yesterday at work. Shirt was in the clip and popped the phone out. Lucky I have the otter box defender case, small scratch on the screen protector but the phone is fine.

When you pull the back cover off, look at the spot you used to pry it off. There is a place you can put a loop or string around at the bottom. It is basically a 'T' shape. I used that on the MyTouch 3G and have it set up the same way on this phone. I don't currently use it because I have a microfiber pouch now that fits in my pocket, but it is there if I need it.

Basically, put a strong piece of string, or something equivalent, there and link it to a keyring of sorts. I used an something from a micro USB adapter and it is solid as a rock.
Very nice observation!! I'm not sure I would have recognized that for a while without reading this. :D

It took a while for me to realize that there was a lanyard loop on the Epic as well. :o

Lol, I got my new 3vo yesterday. The sales rep didn't drop the device, but once it as activated and I finally got to hold it in my hands, I tinkered around with it and noticed that the power button wasn't working. So my first one was a return, but the one I have now works like a charm. I got it home and had it charging and my dog tripped over the charger and pulled it off of the bed onto the floor. Not a far drop, but I died a little inside when that happened. It still works fine though. Love my 3vo BTW!

I dropped mine the other day on a carpetted floor, so nothing happened to it. I don't like how the outside of the phone is pretty delicate. I already got some chips on the edge of my screen! u.u I swear, my Hero wasnt as delicate... Now, I feel myself obligated to buy a case and a protector for my phone, something I never really did for my Hero...

My phone was totally naked for 3 days (no case, no screen protector). I had a death grip on it at all times, I only transported it in the box, and I wouldn't let my 4-year old hold it. I put the otterbox commuter on last night. I feel so much more comfortable now.
