EA Mobile no longer on Android Market

It was $5 more when it was released but after many complaints it was lowered to the same price as the rest of the Android Market a couple days ago.

Same as NFS. I think it had less to do with complaints and more to do with lack of sales. NFS has sold less than 500 copies on Verizon in the month since the change. That's even with the $2.50 sale over Valentines day.

Per EA Mobile on their Facebook page, answering the question that I asked them:

"This is an issue with the Google Marketplace. We are working to have the issue resolved."

At least they're aware of the issue. We'll see what comes of it.

They're lying, and initially said the same thing to me. I've managed to speak to a few higher level people. They have a deal with Verizon in place. EA lists two versions of some apps on the market. The ones that are "exclusive" to Verizon have a different APK name and are blocked from other carriers. The other version of that same app is available to all carriers but blocked on Verizon.

"All Carrier" version - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.eamobile.nfsshift_na_wf&feature=search_result

Verizon Version - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.eamobile.nfsshift_na_wf_vzw&feature=search_result

Both are currently listed at $4.99. Up until a few days ago, excluding the Valentines Day sale, the Verizon version was $9.99.

Google Support tells me that it's an EA issue. EA Mobile support is slow but said they would "look into" letting me buy the 2nd app, then refunding me the price but letting me keep it in my purchase history. Verizon gave me half off my entire bill for a month and apologized.

hey, I just realized, there is a way to verify this... download the apps on sale app (I am not affiliated with this app!), it shows the date an app went on sale (dunno if it shows price increases) it also shows the old price and the new price.

Tetris and Need for Speed: Shift are once again missing from the Market on the Droid X, so I wonder if they really are fixing it...

Good catch. I have both a BBB Complaint and FCC Complaint against them right now. I've heard progress on the former, but not the latter.

Just checked the web-based market to confirm. The Verizon-exclusive apps have been removed. The "all-carrier" apps are still blocked on Verizon. We'll see how this goes.

It could be that they're moving those two apps back to "all-carrier", while the apps developed post January 21 (Worms, Bejeweled 2) will continue to be split carrier. That I'm fine with, I guess, as long as they're the same price and updated regularly.

I'll still use market enabler to purchase the "all-carrier" version. I don't want to be tied to the Verizon version if I ever have to switch carriers.

Tetris returned, but...it's $7.99, and I still can't re-download. C'mon Google and EA, this is getting ridiculous.

New version of NFS Shift works in the Galaxy S but I need to pay for it again, are they charging for updates? this is pathetic.

I bought NFS: Shift when they had the $.99 sale in December and downloaded and installed the 1.0.58 version. Download, installation and then the additional 150 MB over WiFi took a little while and by the time I had tried playing the game a couple of times (on a Galaxy S with Froyo) and realised it wasn't going to work the 15 minute limit on refund was passed.

Contacting the email address listed on the Market page only yielded an automated respose about how to find info on EA's website, but the info was incorrect and of no use - especially if you followed their explicit instructions and choose your country on the site (only by choosing USA the instructions for how to proceed were correct though even there they only led into a dead end).

I contacted the Swedish part of EA (only marginally easier to penetrate) and they were of little help (or in fact clueless about an Android version).

A couple of days ago (two months later) I was notified about an update to 1.0.59 on Android Market but the game still crashed. Right now I've just checked again on Market and the one from EA Mobile is listed as 1.0.60 and at $4.99 and the one at Electronic Arts Mobile is 1.0.59 and I have it as purchased. I checked the comments and there was one (in Swedish) that said the latest version worked fine on Galaxy S so I fired it up again and lo and behold it started! Beats me why it didn't do so the first time after the update - perhaps it needed a reboot?

Any more news on this?

Just switched to the thunderbolt, and am in the same situation...

purchased Need For Speed Shift... Electronic Arts Inc, for the $0.99 special before xmas on my VZW HTC Incredible.

I can't re-install it on any of my VZW devices (unless I use Market Enabler, which I shouldn't have to do)

I issued a charge back on both purchased, which means that I no longer own them and cannot legally play them. I complained to Verizon and they cut my bill in half for a month ($35 rebate). There are other games on the Amazon app store that are comparable or better. I'm just avoiding EA from now on, as well as paid apps on the Android "carrier specific" market.
