Progress report, I fixed the file manager and I think I fixed the data, i'll post up a build tomorrow for someone to test out. It's also no longer based on cmiui but an actual miuiandroid rom, i'd rather base it on miui.us but I can't get any of those to boot for some reason.

--added ics control panel since the 'roaming indicator off' is back but it doesn't seem to work???
--button backlights are now fixed
--gapps are not needed but you basically wont get google search without it
--file manager and storage options show the sdcard but it doesn't show in about phone, also usb mass storage is a pain in my a$$

I'm pretty sure you can fix this by placing eri.xml in /data. My github has the file for sprint and virgin mobile in the overlay folder.

i tried adding it to /data and i even added it directly to the framework-res.apk under the xml folder overwriting the existing one and i'm still getting roaming indicator off. I'm on rootz wiki right now and apparently it is indeed the fix for it, it's just not playing nice. I'm going to work a bit on the vold.fstab and try to get miui to correctly show the external sdcard in a bit. I have a little down time waiting for an interview at the fair. Luckily this place has plugs and wifi lol
I never said i was the smartest person, i think i know what i did wrong, i'll report back soon

I was able to get that problem fixed with the last release before i swapped back to CM9 for the improved kernel. I'm going to switch back in a few minutes, i'll PM you the fix once i refind it. it was just a setting buried somewhere.

ok thanks, all my signs are pointing me to eri.xml and i've tried several versions in different places as I said above (in data and inside the actual framwork) and at best it has no effect, at worst it broke data

so, i checked, it IS within CIS control panel, carrier options. I THINK what i did was enable 'display carrier logo', can't verify right now because it's throwing a fit. I'll try and see what file the app modifies.

well sort of, its mounting the internal memory, but its a start, need to get it to mount the sd instead

Memory swapped, miui is now showing the external sd card as the internal so when you mount via usb it mounts the external sd card instead, also when using filemanager, gallery, music etc it reads the external sd card instead of internal. working on the roaming indicator thing still but if i can't get it in a couple hours i'll update with the rom with these changes at least.

some of those are (i think) part of the miui.us set of roms, let me upload this new build which fixed usb, storage and indicator, then i'll look into adding some of those extras.
Do you mean center clock using the ics control app? It turns out that app doesn't work on this rom lol sorry.

Yes the new music, weather and stats are now in the new update but i'll leave the zip up just in case. Also note you will have two sets of widgets for the music and for the weather but only one works for each. I'll fix that in a future release.
I have some time today so i'm going to try and bump the version of miui from 2.8.3 to 3.2.8 which is one of the last versions that was still compatible with ics before going completely jellybean
also still trying to get a miui.us rom to do something other than crash, the closest i've come so far was the miui 2.7.27 from the optimus g2x which boots but immediately crashes over and over and over.
