EOL/ Replacement Phone

Just a little update after receiving a plum color 3VO two weeks ago and then a pos Kyrocera Rise a few days later and having to send them back, numerous calls to VM customer service for about 2 weeks...FedEx showed up today with not 1 or 2 or 3 or even 4 packages BUT 5 packages all being black 3VOs. 4 of them were VM branded and one brand new in the retail packaging so I took the brand new black 3VO in the retail box. Gotta love VM :)

Well, now we know why no one else has been able to get a replacement... ;)

Just how incompetent can one company be???

As soon as any other provider has anything close to my $45 plan (1200 minutes, unlimited text/data), I will be moving on.....

Why would you leave??? They are such idoits that you can talk them into paying you monthly plan almost. Its virtually free and damn cheap...

So what are you doing with all the extra phones? :p

So what are you doing with all the extra phones? :p

I ended up with multiple phones because one was sent because of a trouble ticket and the other was from my backorder, you can choose your pick of the litter but if they don't receive the others within 15 days they will suspend your account and black list the meid on the phones so that they can't be used on the service.

Well since I picked out the brand new one in the retail box out I'll be sending the other 4 back plus my old one. Just like OverByter said if you don't send them back I'll be banhammered and the phones will be blacklisted.

Oh dang!

The EVO is no longer listed on Virgin's website, even as a backorder.

That's interesting. It says "Displaying 12 of 17 phones" at the top...and sure enough...there are 5 phones missing. When they cleaned it up, they must have forgotten to change that field.

Looks like the ONE V is back in stock.

I am so ready for a flagship it hurts.

I know right. The one lady was like "So you still have a warranty on this phone since you activated it in June. Let me transfer you to Tech and well get you set up with a new phone." She did and I told her my problem we had to do everything I was told by the other lady to do again..and she was like "Nothing we can do sir, your warranty expired." I set her straight. Very polietly mind you. And yeah.

Since they no longer have any new EVOs do you think there is a chance I could get a rooted one?

This is one company full of goofballs...I was told the opposite. I purchased the 3VO V when it was released last June of 2012. I was told by tech support that my warranty ran out in December of 2013 and the phone was activated in June 2012, thinking that my warranty would expire June of this year I have a few extra months. They even sent me 5 3VOs 4 that were refurbs and one that was brand new in the retail packaging. I called back explaining to them that they sent me 5 phones and activated the new one. Now my warranty doesn't expire until May of 2014. Edit and note: They even gave me a $100 service credit so don't have to worry about topping up for 2 months... lol

I don't know how you all get service credits. I was offered $10 once on my gf's phone a few months ago and they didn't even credit her account. Bastards

5 phones sent to you at the same time? That's just madness lol

Since I know I'm not getting a new in box phone is it possible to get a rooted phone?

I highly doubt it, last that I knew Virgin has the phones flashed to the original condition, one to put the phone into a known state for troubleshooting, and two to remove any customer information that might still be on board. :D

Can I return a rooted phone or do i have to unroot it and s-off it?

I've had the Galaxy Victory as my Evo's replacement for a few weeks now. Virgin Mobile sent me a brand-new one - a nice surprise :)

So far I'm very happy with the Victory. It is slightly but noticeably smaller than the Evo, but still a very nice size. (I wouldn't want a phone any smaller, but neither would I want one larger than the Evo.) Everything works very smoothly, and I haven't encountered any bugs or glitch behavior. So far the lack of ability to move apps to the micro SD hasn't bothered me - but then I don't have tons of games that I play on my phone.

Those who have specific things they love about the Evo would probably be disappointed in the Victory - but I think most of you know that already. Anyone who mainly wants a good phone that works well should be more than satisfied by the Victory as a replacement.

Oh, and as for LTE - it is, indeed "right on my doorstep" now. I may go over the data cap this month thanks to Speed Tests and Sensorly alone :D...
