EPIC 4G over Evo 4G

I recently switched from the Htc Evo to the samsung EPIC.
The htc Evo was an amazing phone, its still one of the best selling phones on the market after almost a year of its launch. But now that i got to try out the EPIC, i gotta say im really diggin it more then the Evo. The Camera is WAY better then the Evo's, even the front vga camera is WAY better then the Evo's 1.3 front camera IMO. Megapixles didnt give any justice to the Evo. But on the EPIC my pictures&videos are amazing with GREAT sound quality, Total opposite of the Evo. Also touchwiz isnt all that bad, could seriously use improvement, but i actually like it! The keyboard is Great! But youll get hooked onto the swype onscreen keyboard. The SuperAmoled Screen just makes the colors POP! And the notification led colors are great, something the Evo really was lacking. Also, the battery life on the EPIC is absolutely great! I can leave it unplugged during the night after a full days use, and in the morning i would still have more than half of battery left! On my evo, a few angrybirds game here and there, few messeges, and some facebook then BAM' already need to plug in! I goota say, if your skeptical in getting the EPIC, go for it! It really is an amazing phone! The only downside about it is its not as "forum" supported as the EVO. Almost every question in the Evo forum gets answered in a few seconds! On the EPICS side, not so many people help out, i guess its because not so many ppl have the phone. But all in all im GLAD i traded my Evo for an EPIC.

Glad to hear that you are happy with the phone and glad to have you on the Epic side!

Both, as you already know, are awesome devices and it just comes down to user preference. I love my Epic (the screen sold me) and my wife loves her Evo. Nothing wrong with that! :D

i got my wife the epic, its damn epic, i got an atrix thinking it might be similiar, then i realized what bloatware was...fml.

n e way, you can catch me often "mistakenly" taking my wifes phone for the day...Ooops...

I am thinking of trading my evo with a epic..so you think it's worth it? I use to love my evo but OVER the battery life. I have read battery for epic isnt that great either but you are saying its better than the evo? i have EVERYTHING turned off on my evo and maunal sync stuff, hate it! i use an extended battery (wonferful) but it's like carrying a brick.... i just want to know if its worth trading someone my evo for an epic....

The thing i liked about the evo was that when people saw it they would be like woa thats a big phone! & it would make a bigger impression then the epic does. But the evo was quite laggy after a while of use and the battery didnt help at all. The epic isnt laggy at all and battery life is better then the evos! Its really quik and IMO better then the evo. But the evo is more beautiful. If you trade you are going to miss the impact the evo made, but its worth it. I wouldnt go back to the evo(:

yeah i dont care to much on the impact...id rather like my phone more than others lol....its def clean looking, i get that...i just want a phone i can have fun with, play with, use it for what its for and not have to worry about the dam battery!!! so overall, you'd say the epic is a better pic? do you ever use the keyboard? how is that? oh and.....does it use the same plugs (wall charger etc. as the evo?)

Ever since I rooted post Froyo it's been smooth sailing with my Epic. I flashed the EE03 GB leak, and glimpses of what it will officially be with GB has me smiling more. I had the Evo, but I just need a hard keyboard. Having a full screen of info while typing (and actually working. I accomplish work on the Epic) in DTG and email is just an essential. But now that I have it humming along, the only reason I'd go with something else is if the GS2 appeared on Sprint as a slider. Other than that, I'm sticking with the Epic. It's light and well built. It's quick. The keyboard is 80% to perfect. Battery life has been much better since Froyo. Rooting is simple. The two major ROMs from ACS and Bonsai are as good as it gets. For all the flack the Epic got early on, its done a complete 180.

I have both. Epic and Evo both are great.

I like Evo because it has better developer support. I'm running CM7 on it and loving it.

Epic is great because it has a great screen, and has a 16GB microSD card. I'm running a rooted version of the stock 2.2 ROM.

You can't go wrong with either, but you can switch phones and realized you made a mistake later. Make sure you know what you're doing when you switch phones. And if you can, just own both, like me.

I owned both. Past tense. Didn't see a need to keep both after a month and the Evo went. I personally don't get the fascination with a ton of developer support. The level of the two major Epic devs is more than sufficient. Never cared about Sense like some of the junkies out there that have to have it on every rom. 3rd parties do pretty much everything better than Sense or TW imho. Mfg skins don't even rate in my phone decision. Mattered more pre 2.1, but the funny thing is, for those strong in one camp or the other (slate vs keyboard), there is no real choice. I don't consider the Nexus S, but you will have the GS2 when it comes. And at the moment those of us in the slider camp have zero on the horizon to look forward to. So we'll cling to gingerbread and ACS/Bonsai.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no official CM7 support yet for the Epic, right?

CM7 alone is the reason it's worth it for me to have my Evo.

You don't "need" both phones. Just like you really don't "need" android. But boy is it fun to have both phones.!! :D

While I'm off messing with ROMs on one phone, my back up phone is network activated so I don't miss calls or real phone use.

When I try out new ROMs and stuff, my dev phone is typically out of action for hours or a day or two at a time. It's really really nice to have a back up phone that's activated and usable.

Not to metion I get bored of one phone after using it for a few weeks, so I switch to the other phone. Seamless with Android. :D

Variety is the spice of life. That's why I own both Evo and Epic. Wouldn't have it any other way.

CM7 is in Alpha 4, and if I read correctly, the next release is about a week or so away.

I can appreciate the want to play with both, but the average person isn't going to be doing that. while I could afford to keep both, a slate (for me) just isn't practical. People buying a slider are generally doing it for the main reason of wanting a keyboard.

android not a need? of course it is. well, unless I missed that new PalmOS 4" slider somewhere along the way that lets me do my invoices, pricing, edit presentations, view product literature, access my home pc files and stream a little tv and hbo to help me get through my cardio workouts :) Oh, without relying on a proprietary desktop app as a go between (key point).

I've got enough hobbies to not worry about being bored with my phone. As much as I love to play, I need it up and running for work 24/7. Downtime flashing and restoring the one on a continual basis is enough.
