"EPIC FAIL :( " - Multiple features removed on Epic 4G?

But but at extra cost. $60?

I think you should familiarize yourself with Sprint's cost structure.
You have your minute/data plan monthly cost whatever that will be. But if you use an EVO or Epic they tack on an additional monthly $10 after everything else- call it a 4G Surcharge, or an EVO/Epic Surcharge.
Even after the cost of the phone, for most users, especially family/share plans, a EVO or EPIC on Sprint will still cost hundreds less over the term of the contract, than ATT/VZW/TMO.

I encourage you to spend more time in the Captivate forum, since that is the phone you have, you have no intention of ever getting an EPIC and you have no pertinent info to add here.

No. TMobile is cheaper.

You're also wrong to state I've ever had a Captivate.
And the rest - very immature.

No. TMobile is cheaper.

Sprint's 450 land line minutes, and unlimited mobile to mobile to any carrier with their Everything Data plan, costs $69.99. Now compare T Mobile's 500 min. plan with data, text and a subsidized phone, at a cost of $79.99, with no unlimited mobile to mobile on any carrier.

Wow, you're not even stating TMobiles correct prices! Why are you doing that??

You can get a TMobile Vibrant for 1 cent for new contracts with Amazon.
And you easily forgot the $10 Sprint "Epic Surcharge" of $10 every month, that's an easy $240 right there besides any other costs.

Compared to TMobiles $59.99 unlimited talk+text+web. With no $10 surcharge.
Sprint's comparable is $69.99 + as we all know the $10 a month "Epic Surcharge".

$20 extra per month for using Sprint x 24 months = $480 over using the TMobile Vibrant.
+ the cost of the phones....$250 versus 1 penny.
so our grand total is $729.99 over two years using the Sprint Epic versus TMobile Vibrant which are basically the same phone.

You should apologize now.

The above poster should just be avoided.

If we need something else to talk about:

I went to look at the Vibrant today, and really liked the Live wallpaper where you could drag your finger "through" the water. Was pretty cool. I hope they haven't nixed that from the Epic.

You are absolutely worng, according to TMO website, today, the unlimited talk/text/web is 79.99 (no contract) or 99.99 (contract). If you are getting the phone for one penny, you are under contract. Try not to spread any more misinformation, if possible.

In my post above, you will notice I said "most", not "all", there are instances where another carrier may be chaper, but it seems as if most instances Sprint will be cheaper. TMO seems to be the most competetive though.

You should apologize now.

Sorry, I said you had a Captivate, sounds like you were really emotionally hurt by that. I though you had a Galaxy S? Vibrant maybe? They have a forum too, where you could contribute.

Where to begin.

"You can get a TMobile Vibrant for 1 cent for new contracts with Amazon"

Well now that's not T Mobile is it? That's a third party selling a phone that has been out for a while on T Mobile. Not a fair comparison. The Epic could very well be discounted on Amazon a month after its been out, but again that would not be Sprint's pricing, so why bring it up?

"Sprint's comparable is $69.99 + as we all know the $10 a month "Epic Surcharge".

Yes if you want a 4G phone, there is an extra $10 fee. So that puts it right where T Mobile is, at $79.99 for their 500 min. plan, with no unlimited mobile to mobile on any carrier.

"Compared to TMobiles $59.99 unlimited talk+text+web. With no $10 surcharge."

Where did you come up with this? I'm looking on T Mobile's website right now, and the price for a subsidized phone with a two year contract on their unlimited talk+text+web is $99.99.

Hey guys,

Most members on this forum know you are right, and can look up the info on the T-mobile website. However, you are having a conversation with a user who only wants you to argue with him. Best to just not respond to him at all.

Not trying to tell yah what to do or anything, just that you are playing into his hand.

I'm new here, but I'm beginning to get the picture. I just don't like people spreading out right lies, so I thought a followup was in order. I'm done now.

...
I don't think it's that way at all. Just because Samsung is holding back options that come with 3.0 doesn't mean we are walled in to using the the stock apps.

You are still on Android, as such you are still allowed to change just about everything to your liking. Dialer, Browser, Messaging, Email, Calendar, Camera App, Gallery... You Name it you can change it.

Looking at iOS you may be able to change select things, but unlike Android, it is not the vast majority.

i just saw phandroid article of the samsung galaxy u, i thought the pic was of an iphone and its white version. yeah, i'm glad the epic is an android, but i do think that samsung is trying too hard to mimic the iphone, it might backfire on them.

Nope, nothing has changed, you just are flat out lying about TMobile prices to support your argument.
No Contract- Unlimited talk+text+web is $59.99....YOU JUST LIED AND SAID IT WAS $79.99.
Under Contract talk+text+web is $79.99, YOU JUST LIED AND SAID IT WAS $99.99.
STOP BEING A LIER!!

Yeah, if you're man or woman enough, an apology is seriously in order.

Absolutely wrong and spreading misinformation?? Yeah, that's YOU....and I'm here to correct people like YOU.

falling victim to my own cartoon here, but sorry diet coke, you're just an idiot. That's not the PC term I'm sure, but you posted a link direct to T-mobile's plans and you obviously can't read. If you can read, you can't comprehend. If you can comprehend, well then there is just no hope for you and you should just be banned for being a troll.

Argument over. And that's without mentioning that coverage on a whole is better on Sprint plus you have the option of 4g in quite a few major metros now.
9760d1282361698-epic-fail-multiple-features-removed-epic-4g-fortheidiot.jpg

That being said, IF you have good T-mobile coverage where you are AND you have an HSPA+ capable phone, their everything plan is a good deal. Granted with free mobile to mobile and nights and weekends, not many need anything close to 900 peak landline minutes let alone unlimited ones. But if you talk over 1000 peak landline minutes than their plans could be favorable. You do have to look into the fact that you are on contract for two years. So the $20 difference over two years means that if you can buy a Captivate for less than $480 outright, then you're doing better than the subsidized plan price. You're also not under contract and can easily sell it and buy a new phone of your choice at anytime. So for $80/mo you can still save money over Sprint considering one is spending $110/mo for an everything plan.

In the end it's hardly worth an argument of this magnitude, and it still amazes me people can get so heated up about things, though DC isn't really helping at all. And I know I can get a bit opinionated about things too from time to time.

Like the funny cartoon just posted, I can't help myself.

From the link you JUST posted.

Individual Talk + Text + Web

Even More PlusSM (No Annual Contract)
Unlimited Minutes
Talk + Unlimited Text + Unlimited Web
compare
$79.99
per month

Even MoreSM (2 Year Contract)

$99.99*
per month

Where to begin.

I posted the 450 minute and unlimited text and data plans.

But TMobiles UNLIMITED EVERYTHING is STILL cheaper than Sprint by $20 a month which is $480 over a contract........not to mention the EXTRA $10 monthly SURCHARGE from Sprint for using an Epic. So we're at $480 + $240 = $720...so stop trying to prove a point.

Besides $250 for an Epic and $0.01 for a Vibrant.

So now we're at $969.99.

I'm right. I win.

Thanks for playing. :)

Can you handle this??

I think dietcoke is Eric the Midget. They both argue the same way. Besides, he'll be stuck with his Vibrant on that 2yr contract when everyone on Sprint has sold their Epic and moved on to their 2Ghz Tegra2 powered Super Duper AMOLED screened phone with 32gb of RAM and is as thin as the Evo with the slide out keyboard and running Android 2.0. Why? because we only have 1yr contracts on Sprint. And we'll get more for our Epic on Craigslist or Ebay in 1yr than he will for his Captivate after 2yrs because the product cycle will have the Captivate well beyond the mature phase and onto the one foot in the grave part of the cycle.

And for the record, my plan with 4g on Sprint is only $69.99. Why? Business plan. 1 phone with 4000 minutes and the rest on a 250 minute plan for $59.99 + $10 for 4g. Calling the office is free of charge which is where most of us at work use the majority of our landline minutes. T-Mobile isn't that flexible for business.

And after all that mean spirited arguing and being shown you're wrong, all you have to say is "oh well" and then continue to argue.

Have a nice day now DC.

Hey, I didn't know this, but a mod just pointed it out in another thread in reference to dietcoke's habitual problem causing.

You can go into User CP ( first option in the little blue bar at the top of the page), once there you can click "Edit Ignore List". There you have the option of adding names... Such as "dietcoke" (just an example). It really is magical, like a mute button on TV.

You guys should try it, it makes the forum nice again :)

I think the habitual problem causing runs in the family because I went to ignore dietcoke and not only could I ignore him, but I could ignore his father too.

dietcoke & dbpaddler, I don't think many (if any) of us appreciate you guys diluting this thread with crap. It was a great thread. Hook up on AIM, IRC, etc. If it has to be public, go find a relevant thread.

Lol...

I seriously laughed for a good 2 minutes. Comedy Gold, Dbpaddler!

On Topic-

Simply put, it would be a matter of opinion ( and possibly taste?) As to what you prefer more, the hardware features of the Epic, or the full TouchWiz 3.0 features of Captivate/Vibrant.

I like the Hardware :o

Nice, like a cold refreshing Aspartame free beverage, after a hot day in the sun. :D

hey quasi, lighten up a little. Even Adrift thought it was funny, geez. And actually if you take a moment to read through my posts, there is some good info about the difference in plans between t-mobile and sprint. Besides, I had a whopping 2 or 3 posts compared to the constant back and forth bickering on two pages.

On topic: I think Touchwiz in general is too cartoon like anyway. The less of it the better. But any of the features that can be extracted to an apk can be installed on the Epic most likely. So as soon as it's rooted and dissected we'll have most of those lost features anyway without having to root.

And I agree. I'll take the more useful hardware over a feature or two. How about the lack of features across the line? Still crappy android email. If you're going to skin, at least add some functionality and clean up the android interface instead of making the dull unpolished look of android be like a cartoon with it's ridiculously bright icon borders and such. Make email and texting more useful. Give us the option to have black text on a white background and better folder support in email. Skins like Blur and TouchWiz should make up for stock android's deficiencies. HTC seems to be the company that gets that, and I think Google is starting to get it when they say Gingerbread is going to have an interface overhaul. Maybe the guy they acquired from Palm will inject a little webOS polish into Android.

I am really hoping that we will get the option of using Gingerbread's UI instead of Touchwiz. I mean I know we will through root, but would be great to see the option given in the actual Gingerbread update.
