after u do the airplane trick do u have to do it again later on or is it permanent

I would like to add that some of the apps that may not have kept the phone awake in 1.5 are keeping it awake in 2.1.
My Battery Widget app kept my phone awake - killing battery life. After removing it, and that being the only change, the awake time has not gone up. So some of the apps that didn't before, could now.

I don't think it is permanent. Some, including myself, have had to do it again after restarting the phone.

That has been my experience, yes. I will add that I do not turn off my phone that often.

Well if you turn off Enable mobiles Always on, it sometimes doesn't turn back on properly. Has done this several times to me.

I don't use it, but you may want to look at see if there is an update for it or maybe even an N1 version.

Im wondering if anyone else has this issue? if it has been addressed I apologize but I just dont have the time to read through 860 posts I have noticed the most reception bars I can get is 2-3 even if im standing next to a tower. One time I got 4 but I have not seen that very often just the once. thanks

Check this:
Settings > About phone > Battery > Battery Use > Cell Standby
Do you have anything that shows Time With Out Signal?
It has been addressed, in fact you could read about 5 posts before yours!! 
Personally I could care less about the bars and my theory is its showing the EVDO (or 3g) strength, actually I like it better because if your phone has 3g on it you'll have voice....vzw typically does data on the pcs band so its going to be "weaker" than their cellular voice band. This is only my theory...and I've been drinking...but i tested it I swear! Read a few posts previous for the fix, I'll make you read my diatribe but ya gotta look for your answer

Agreed 100%, I like Handcent a LOT more than Chomp, and as soon as people start reporting Handcent has fixed the sending error I'm back in.
Was this the HTC battery widget ?

I've been using handscent since the 2.1 leak and have no problems. I'm able respond to a text and recieve a response to that in under a min. Not sure It has any effect but I used Astro file manager to restore my apps and they were able to load the previous database from sd card and keep my info for most apps.
Just realized all the people I have texted since 2.1 have been on the same network. Is your issue with sending to other carriers?
