Zloe's issue was thankfully and apparently less serious and more easily recoverable than others since he could still boot into his rooted Android O/S.

Just wanted everyone who is following this to know that the phone worked well all day. Nice to know it's backed up at this point. Thanks again everyone. I'm planning on doing a lot of reading on how to make the eris even better now (and hopefully figure out how to prevent this from happening again).
