You did a clean restore? Please elaborate..."Since I did a clean restore for 2.1" meaning that you have or are just waiting to get 2.1? I don't want to get confused. Thanks man!
2.1 was leaked, supposedly by an overseas employee of HTC. It's possible, but unconfirmed.
A clean restore is also known as a hard reset. It is similar to reinstalling a new OS on your computer. It will wipe your phone clean of everything. If you wanted to, you could sell it to someone that was looking for a phone, and they would have no idea what you did on the phone prior to this reset. It is very thorough.
2.1 is a new firmware, or version of an operating system if we're sticking with a computer analogy. It will wipe the phone clean and put 2.1 on it. Sync your Google contacts before putting 2.1 on there and they'll be right back there when you reboot with 2.1.
Kinda of new to this but why would someone want to disable Sense UI? What are the benefits?
Because Sense is extra stuff HTC put on the phone. The Droid and N1 use Home, which is the core Android interface. I use it. I like it better. I think Sense is just fluff and seems to slow down the phone a bit. That's just my opinion, others may find the opposite, or not change at all. I recommend at least trying it out to see how it is. It may take some getting used to, but you'll have to see for yourself.
To do this, go to Settings, Apps, and find Sense. Click on Sense and scroll to the bottom. Hit "Clear DEFAULTS". Then simply hit the Home button and a menu will pop up asking you what program to use to open this. Select Home. There should only be two options, Home and Sense. If you want, you can even select "remember this setting" BEFORE hitting Home. It won't ask you again.
This change is reversible. To go back to Sense, do the above, but to the Home application, when clearing the defaults.
How often does the Droid Eris auto sync?
You can change this in the Syncing settings. It's all up to you.
