Eris to v2.x, when?

Ok, let's get back on topic, you know, talking about VZW employees.
Like the one today that said "2.1 is already out, just go to your phone, to the settings option, and it'll download it to your phone." That's what he said, which makes absolutely no since at all. And I'm not the one who went and asked (dang wife trying to rub it in my face that she pre-ordered the Incredible).

Those who understood, understood.

I'm not going to vivisect the (admittedly lame) joke yet again. You didn't get it - move on.

I can't believe three people just assumed your post to be a generic post about calling VZW about 2.1.

Makes you wonder if people even read posts or just scroll through em, going through the motions.

Frisco it was a joke and now its starting to spawn a new one.

More importantly, it's deflected attention, for a few posts, from the nearly four thousand five hundred posts in this thread whining about the OTA being "late" or "not coming."

There is no way I could believe a person would get on the phone for a week end and call Verizon asking what time it is. But don't you think that scenario is worth continuing in this thread?

Post as if it happened, this is the stuff that causes forums to get hits on Google when people do searches for strange things.

That's what 4chan is for.

About as useful as telling people I am a mod on the iPhone forums. :p

Aren't you people who install 2.1 yourselves a little nervous about doing so?

What if down the road there are critical updates that need to be made to the 2.1 version and you will be unable to receive them?

Also... it's my understanding that if you install 2.1 yourself, you're unable to receive future updates. Seems kind of risky for something that's not really that big of a deal in the first place. If waiting on a little software update is so consuming to you, you need to step back and seriously reevaluate your priorities in life.

Ummm nope. You've been informed wrong my friend.

Even if those of us that have installed the leaked version of 2.1 don't get an actual OTA there are a few sites that post official updates for our phones. We can just download from there. Same difference. Appreciate the concern though. ;)

Also, while you are condemning the people here, you may want to take a step back and think about the fact that you took the time to post your little life lesson on here too.....in bold no less.

Good God, it's Confucius himself. I loved your quotes, such as "he who go to bed with itchy butt wake up with smelly finger," as well as "he who stand on toilet, high on pot."

Please share some more wisdom with us. This thread can not have enough of it.

frag: I could show you a report card where I took Calc, bio, chem, and physics, each with labs, one semester. It might be the only thing with more.

OTD is my hero.I would have said heroine, but with me being in law enforcement, that might be taken the wrong way.heroineess? who knows,

Just got off the phone with Phil from HTC.

Here's Phil's take on the situation...

"We were ready to release it but discovered at the last minute that the installation was what we call a 'destructive install', which uninstalls the operating system and reinstalls with 2.1. In other words, you would get the OTA update and it would install 2.1 on your phone as planned, but upon rebooting your phone, all your contacts, apps and such would be gone. So once the install process is fixed, which will hopefully be before the second half of the year, the update will be released."

He went on to apologize for the delay, which is ******ed since it's not HIS fault and made a thinly veiled joke about the guys on the Android Forums going apeshit over an update that really isn't THAT big of a deal. LoL

Yea, you were doing fine until that last little bit. Then all credibility went flying out the window.

BTW, didn't you just tell us that we needed lives? Why are you calling them.......after business hours?

like I posted earlier the word I got from VZW is that they are in the testing phase right now.

Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless. As a reflection of my commitment to provide the best customer service possible, I attempted to call you. Unfortunately, I was only able to leave a voicemail. I am sorry for the inconvenience of not being able to update your device to the 2.1 software. Currently Verizon Wireless is in the process of testing the software and we do not have a release date for the software. When it is released, you will get a message to the device with the option of updating the software over the air. If you have any further questions, please call 800-922-0204. Thank you for choosing Verizon Wireless, we appreciate your business. Cindy
