Eris to v2.x, when?

Not sure the details that can be given.

I hope people understand...

For any one device there are several specific fixes that are usually tested along with any new features (Nav, Market, etc...).

At least answer the chewing gum question! We're dying to know!

more then a few sites are claiming that the 2.1 update is being pushed. No "Official" word yet which makes me wonder what is really happening. People have received 2.1 but it doesn't seem like the public release yet.

BUT, the Droid 2.1 is rolling out this week, maybe this is in fact the beginning of the Eris update....

hi guys,

ive been a long time reader but not a poster.

heres what my local sales reps fed me today

"theres already some erises running 2.1. if you order them direct from htc they have it pre-installed."

btw ive been a long time pda/smartphone user with very little experience with linux or android but im loving this thing more than any winmo ive used.

well well well. Now this makes some SENSE(pun intended)
The original poster of 2.1 on Eris said that he got his Eris BEFORE they went on sale. I had a feeling that there was something different. Maybe HTC direct devices are getting 2.1 first?!
maybe those direct devices always get updates first. Verizon always states that they roll out updates slowly, maybe direct devices are on the TOP of that list. I'm on to you Verizon & HTC

Well, I have heard that size matters.:p

Only in horseshoes and handgren--wait a second, wrong analogy...

HD Video doesn't HAVE to be so large. Just need to compress properly ;p. It's not the size that matters, but how you use it, (unless we're talking about SOMETHING else...)

Most logical explanation I can think of. Considering that Google is/will be pushing N1 updates and not the carriers.

Very logical, almost implied actually. you know verizon has to find a way to try to cripple it then roll out the OTA. but htc probably releases there updates to the direct buyers at the same time the updates are released to the carriers.

I'm going to be compulsively doing *#*#CHECKIN#*#* ... all. damn. day.

Curse the bastard that incited this hysteria! We've all been so antsy. If it weren't for my anticipation of this update, I probably wouldn't have joined this forum. I've been lurking it without joining for a month or two, but hell, I wanted to take part in some of these conversations.

Whoa. Way off track.
I'm almost willing to put money on the update coming out officially and more widely spread in the next 3 days or so.

I wonder exactly how many people received this messed up version of 2.1. If there were enough, I wonder if Verizon would rush the official push of 2.1 to help fix the phones that were messed up, rather than having to exchange them.
