Eris to v2.x, when?

My biggest fear/concern with getting 2.x is that it will be "dumbed down" for the Eris hardware. The Qualcomm Scorpion architecture in the snapdragon and the cortex A8 in the OMAP3430 are far beyond the MSM7600 in the Eris. I'm sure most of the highly desired apps such as google navigation and voice to text will be included, but things such as the animated wallpapers will be excluded. The wallpaper would eat too many CPU cycles and cause the UI to become less responsive since it is trying to do too many things at once. I think HTC will sacrifice the wallpaper in exchange for a smoother user experience.

Again I hope I'm wrong because I can't think of a better way to rub android in all my friends' iphone loving faces:cool:

Help me out on another question I was debating with someone else. Will WiFi still work if your mobile service is disconnected because you didn't pay your bill? If so, can a person still use Google Voice using Wifi with no mobile service?

Oh my Lord....!!!!! My head is going to POP! This is sooo out of hand with the is it coming today, tomorow, leaked vids, secret testers. Man I'm gonna have to bail for a while. I want the update so damn bad but why? My phone works, the update may screw root up, and I have officially contracted ocd about checking threads. I believe I am going to have to pull chocks for now and leave the update possible threads alone for sanitys sake. Please admins only do me a favor and when it comes post a huge thread in all bold caps saying NO S**T ITS HERE!, and please include weather or not getting this will jack root up since the devs over there seem so close, or everyone and thier brother will screw root up and have to back-peddle on their phones.

Oh yeah I know I'm asking for crap w this. Please keep it to a min so I dont have to check in to the home with Hurley.

Ok. I just signed up, but I have been lurking for a long time. NKT has now sparked my interest and I have to ask a couple questions.

NKT:

1) Does the new ROM include Live Wallpapers?
2) How about an updated lock screen? Can you switch?
3) How about the new home screen being used on the Nexus One? Can you switch? Does Home Switcher work?
 
NKT - you've been living with 2.1 for a few days now - could you provide a more indepth review - i.e. run down and impression of all new features, battery life, new widgets, changes to UI - any issues or problems, does it stutter, how are the haptic buttons under 2.1 (many peoople have problems with delays and slow response under 1.5), changes in 3G 1X coverage, etc, etc....

Guys, NKT is probably under a few different NDAs while he is doing this. Don't push too much. I am sure he will provide information on everything he can without getting in trouble or fired. If you have not looked at the video he already posted, it is a few pages back. A little fuzzy, but it cool to see some of the new stuff.

As far as I'm concerned, NKT's video is the most interesting thing on the entire web :)
