Eris to v2.x, when?

You didn't get swindled and it's not sad or disheartening that the price went down. It's actually good because it signals there is rapid development of the technology. When the Eris (and most other non 2.1 phones) get upgraded to 2.1, the chatter will turn completely around as to how great it is to own an older technology that gets retrofitted. Usually the price stays high on stagnant technology.

The price stays high on stagnant technology? Pardon? I believe you've got this reversed? Things that are released then remain unchanged slowly drop in price as time goes on. Take the Xbox 360 or the PS3 for example.

3 DAYS on your Eris!? I'm lucky if I get 3/4s of a day with wifi off

I check my mail, facebook, and tweets once or twice a day and maybe make two or threes short calls a day. I rarely listen to music, unless it is plugged in. Otherwise I use my work or home computer for most web surfing and email. My phone is awake about 24% of the time.

Lite usage, that explains battery life.

Honestly, how often are you in a situation where you NEED to use your phone for anything? I can read a map, so don't need road navigation much. I have computers at home and work. I have phones at home and work. That covers about 20 of my hours a day most days. Why would i use my phone when I have a 26" HD monitor and a computer with a keyboard to use instead?

It is great for my Scout trips, when I am away from civilization tho :D

I agree that typing is a pain with a virtual keyboard. I would sit and type stories with my treo. Pretty lame, I know, but I can't even text in the car now. Before I could do it without looking at the phone. Now it is impossible.

I do find it amusing. We are in here chomping at the bit about when this new update will come out, but when I think about it, do I really need a smartphone? Do any of us really? I mean, it is way cool! But, somehow i managed to survive the first 26 years of my life with no cell phone at all. And now I feel naked without a mini-computer strapped to my hip 24/7. Sad really....

But i agree...coming from an enV and enV2..i HATE texting with this eris...it may be a deal breaker for me before my 30 days are up:mad::mad:

I have Swype, and love it! So much easier than typing on that small keyboard, even in landscape mode.
