Eris to v2.x, when?

There is actually. You would be surprised. I look at it every day.Cant see the notice right now, but it says "Q1", and turn-by-turn directions, and updates for the life cycle of the phone.

Just like we have known for months. No other information. Granted I've been off for the last 2 days, but on Tueday it still had the same information.

If you call a call center and they are telling you anything different, they are probably talking poo, as that info is not made available to anyone except those who need to know, and we dont need to know. There is no date, there is no mention of 2.0, 2.1, 1.6 or any other info except whats above.

However htc has supposedly announced it is upgrading the device to 2.x. Your guess is as good as mine, but Im sure its being tested and Im sure we wont know until its at the most a week from push,and someone will probably leak it on this site.

GOD HELP THEM IF THEY ARE WRONG.

All I can say as a tech support rep,is what I wrote in the first paragraph and that is all a rep should be saying as there is no other information available at this time.

Watch this site and pcdphones.com(for the manual update).

and trust the testing. putting it out without thorough testing will cause you pain, causing you to call vzw tech support, causing people to come to my desk, asking me what to do, causing my stats to plunge like a bomb, causing me to talk to my supervisor for 20 adjustments in a day.

did I just rant?

What is the "life cycle" of the phone?




Well when we get root we greatly (!) increase the life cycle for updates. ;):D

Hello all-
I'm new here and yes I tried to search this....
In the HTC deveolpment center page there is kernel source code and binaries for the Eris that were released on 02/01/2010. What are these? anything to do with 2.1? On the android developers page at HTC it also states that "Android 2.1 is now available".??? WTF?

No kidding! As I said earlier I am coming from years of upgrading the ROM in a windows phone every couple of days because someone came out with a new one. I was running Windows Mobile 6.5.3 on an Omnia, which was a 6.1 device. My reason for moving to the Eris was that my wife had one, and all the things I could make work on the Omnia with some hacking simply just worked on the droid platform. But as brilliant as those guys hacking the omnia were, they were not nearly as fun as Eris users appear to be! It was so serious over there in the dark land. Here people seem to enjoy themselves.

Someone said earlier that perhaps there was more to life than hanging out here and speculating, but I have found this my favorite thread simply because it's FUNNY! I find myself coming back to check it just to get a laugh.

I am going to start a new thread and name it. "Only Post if you got a 2.X update"

Oh, no. No problem with you. It's the others and the lame comments they make towards you because you are female. For all we know, you are a 400lb woman with a beard who never gets up from your chair all day, nor showers/bathes more than once a week (not saying you are). But in their simple little testosterone driven minds, you are an airbrushed supermodel (again, not saying you are).
 
but really though, hoofaking cares? why even bring it up? does it make you feel better that you can control your nerd lust or something and you just must bring it to everyone's attention?
