I just want to be able to use Google Maps Navigation.
The Google Maps that works with 1.5 is just awful.
It can't reliably update a route while underway - I most often get a repeat of the original directions the first 3 or 4 times I request an update.
It's nowhere near accurate in the final leg of the destination - it once declared a destination 3.7 miles from the last turn when it fact it was over 7 miles.
It winds you through side streets and neighborhoods when the main roads would do just as well - presumably because they are literally the shortest route - without any practical thought or consideration.
This is with GPS on in a major city - not relying upon the mobile network alone off the beaten path in the middle of nowhere.
I tried CoPilot Live after reading a good review of it in a tech magazine, and was even willing to pony up the $34.95 for the North American maps, but it refused to download to the phone directly. I had to install a desktop client, plug the Eris into my computer, and attempt to download it that way - which it repeatedly refused to do.
Their website was disappointingly unhelpful, and I returned it to Marketplace within 24 hours for a credit.
I would go VZ Navigator, but I don't want another $10 a month on an already out-of-control phone bill, when the device should soon be able to utilize Google's own application.
29 days, right?
