Eris to v2.x, when?

everyone just relax. the ota will not come today. not today, and not tomorrow. maybe in a month. no really. I know this for sure..

The update will take a lot of people completely by surprise and they won't have their stuff backed up. And they will NOT be happy if they lose all their data.

I'm running Leak 1. I had just finally taken the plunge and set my phone up the way I like it when the second leak came out. I'm not flashing the new leak unless I have a major problem with the first one. It wasn't that much trouble to set everything up again, but I'd rather not do it again - especially if the OTA is coming soon.

From the way I understand it, the OTA will not wipe your data. It will update your operating system to version 2.1. If you use a file to update the Eris, it will wipe your phone. Just like the current leaks do.

I think that we will get the update next week. Make sense doesn't it.

VZW task:

1. Update Droid to compete against other 2.1 Android Phones
2.Update eris to make buyers bargin between getting just the Droid or The droid and the Eris(Spouses)
3. Release Nexus One to make people that brought the Droid want to fork the extra money for the Nexus one plus the Re-stocking fee

They all Equal $$$$$$ for verizon thought about this when i was High Lol
 
well, hopefully being that Q1 ended, maybe tomorrow Verizon/HTC will release something about the update not being ready for Q1 like expected. Cause the last official information about the update was Q1 and they never changed it officially.
 
Does the quarter end on the last day of the month, or (like in most companies) then end of the week??
 
I saw someone here say it is actually ending on the 3rd. So a few more days I guess. I really dont expect it by then though.
 
ok... ive been (like everyone else in this world) checking this thread daily if not a couple times and this is what i predict.

*we eventually get the 2.1 upgrade OTA and everyone is running around naked and high about how awesome it is....
** w/in one week everyone will be bitching about all the imperfections there are and then a few programming geniuses will take the time and fix the bugs if not have HTC do it after receiving 3 billion emails from people from this forum...
*** and finally somewhere down in the electronics addicted rumorville of nowhere, we all get informed that there is a 2.2 update coming and then we are ALL back to where have have been since Nov '09....

.... and yes i am already naked and high in anticipation...

Hard to argue with an excuse to get naked and high! :)
 
Does anybody know what we are suppose to get with the final version that we haven't got? Is the new Sense coming with it?

I never said i was "owed" a credit, did I? I just said it would be nice if they let me buy it for the new contract price and not $500+.

Oh and guess what, many people who bought a PC right before the release of windows 7 were given a FREE UPGRADE when it was released... actually it cost about $17 for shipping, so not free, but cheap.

Indeed. (as I quickly checked to see who had become a member first...whew ;)).

Additionally, proceed with caution when reading about updates today. Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.....pretty entertaining though.

Right after that post (rant) somebody asked if his wife received an update notification.. no response yet; I expected the "April Fools" jive right away.

I ran *#*#checkin#*#* after reading his post.. heck, I don't even really need the update (I'm fine with 1.5, you may not have heard), but it just goes to show you that curiosity about the workings of these companies keeps me interested. ;)
