Eris to v2.x, when?

As a current Droid owner, experiencing some problems with the 2.1 update, I have an Eris that I have been playing with for a little while. It is really starting to grow on me. I would love for an official 2.1 update to be rolled out so I can manually update and see all the improvements made to make my final decision on using the Droid or the Eris. I don't want to install the leak because it is probably not the final version. I really like what HTC is doing lately, especially in the quality of their handsets. I for one can't wait to see just how much better it the Eris, which is a great phone now.

And if quality is what their main impetus is, then expediency may suffer a bit; in other words, perhaps they'd rather be late with the OTA than deliver software that is below their quality standards.

Perfection will never be achieved, but going by the bugs we've seen in the leaks, as reported in these forums, improvement in the Eris 2.1 update seemed to be needed.
 
Does it not make sense to anyone that we would get a heads up from VZW about an impending OTA for our Eris phones along with instructions on how to prepare the phone for the update? I find it hard to believe that this OTA will just drop out of the clear blue sky with no warning. They did inform Droid users of their update and what to do to prepare for it.

Well, we'll likely get some notice ... at least in the way the Droid owners did. There'll probably be a small-scale test release or two a day or so before the full-blown rollout begins, and every Android site on the Net will pick that up instantly.

But as far as official notice goes, I doubt we'll get much more than that. We'll just have to keep ourselves amused by listening to under-informed Verizon reps ... and then try to convince ourselves that what they said was actually true.

Ahhhhh...The ubiquitous Stan! If I had a dollar for every email from a "Stan" at VZW I would have, well, about $25...but still, you get the idea! :D
 
If their servers can't handle it, they could at least help us nerds out and put it on Rapidshare, MegaUpload, etc. as PB00IMG.zip
 
I still have faith. I'm still highly impressed that they gave us two bug fix upgrades within a few months of release.
 
Just read over at droidforums.net that the Eris will begin getting 2.1 starting this week on the 13th. In the same manner as the Droid. By the 15th we should all have it.

Here's hoping. But most likely will be another date to come and go with nothing.
 
Heh ... all that thread proves is that nobody from Verizon knows the absolute truth about this, or is giving it out. Some of them are reading from the vaguest possible scripts, and the rest are making stuff up in order to try to appear knowledgeable. And I suppose it works, because some people still seem to believe it.
 
The only way we will be absolutely sure we'll get an update is when we actually get the update. These vzw reps are in the dark like the rest of us.
 
Well, even if they do, I am very happy with the 2.1 leak. Its not perfect, but I can deal with it til oct, then wife gets the eris, and Ill get the incredible thank you lol,atleast that's how Im going it plays out. We shall see.I do like this phone though.

Good luck. My birthday prediction of 28 March yielded gifts, parties and various other benefits galore, but no OTA.
