Wow I'm shocked there's actually a girl my age on here ;). My parents do ask me what's going on, usually everyday and by staying open with them there hasn't ever been any trust issues with them. I don't smoke at all (I have asthma) and I don't drink (at least not too much haha) so they can trust me pretty well.

Aww :) but you have a motorola droid(At least that's what it says under your screen name) so you not cool haha JK!!!

and yeah that's pretty much how it is with my parents. To be honest, my parents really aren't the closest thing...with my parents only being 15 years older then me they are more like an older brother or sister so we never really had issues with invasion of privacy. I never really gave my parents much to worry about growing up so they really don't have to worry about me if they wanted to..However, I'm a triplet...my sister gabby...that's the one that they have to worry about. LOLZ

Ok, I have to admit that I kind of expected this sort of reaction from some of the younger members on the forum. I don't mean that in a negative way, but I did expect for someone to view this as an invasion of privacy by mean controlling parents or something. I do understand what you are saying and I know that I would have been very upset if my parents had monitored my every movement when I was younger too. However, that isn't really what I am talking about with those services. I am not talking about keeping tabs on your kids so that you can catch them doing something wrong, I am talking about being able to check on them for their safety. Right now my kids are too young for cell phones, but when they reach the right age and have the maturity level for such a device I will have no problem getting one for each of them. I will also not have any problems keeping a GPS enabled eye on them to make sure they are safe.

As far as reading text messages and literally tracking their every move I see that as being up to them. If they keep the trust that we have then there is no reason for me to do any of that. If they break that trust then maybe monitoring is on order. We are all different and what works for some kids and adults may not work for others. I currently know a few adults that actually need to be monitored more than their kids do. :D

lol you have to forgive me, i always love a healthy debate or two haha :)

Lol i think my parents are the adults you're referencing. I had to pay for my dad(gave the money to my aunt) to get bailed out(long story) haha

Okay i don't see my last post....so i'm going to repost what i just said

@Nateo: Awww :) yeah the teens have to represent...lol i was about to say i'm not going to be a teen for much longer but i still have 18 and 19 haha
but yeah i understand where you are coming from. My parents...oh my parents lol...i don't really see mine to be honest because of their jobs...like once or twice out the month so if i was a bad kid and got into be trouble A) they wouldn't care B)or like someone said before "pay" my way out....But I am a good kid, at least i try to be...I can be a bitch(excuse my language) but i don't believe in doing drugs or smoking cigs...i prefer to look my age then older(no offense to those who smoke) and i don't drink(I drink enough soda so no need to kill my kidneys and liver haha)

@OTD:lol i love a debate or two as long as it's polite so that's why i jumped in on it quickly haha...that and these forums are addicting to me haha...i come here all the time to talk and read what others say and learn alot....

but i do agree with you with what you said...you sound like a cool mama :)
and i definitely agree with you about the comment about watching some adults more then kids haha...lol i had to give the money to someone over 21 to bail my dad out(long story) haha...

Ok, I guess 53 next month would make me a grandpa..lol

But folks, your really as young as you feel.. and I still feel 25..

or maybe 35.. or maybe 45.. but NOT 53.. man Im getting old..

Im 26 and this is my first smart phone. I've had phones on almost every carrier, including some more than once and some that are no more) My fist phone was a nokia 5110 on voicestream :) I cant remember how old I was but it was for emergencies, and there was no picture messaging or internet...It was much harder to get into trouble with a phone back then.

21 here, I've been with verizon since I was 15. Had the vx6000, vx9800, blackberry curve, and now my bad ass eris. Recently I've been seeing more and more grade school kids getting cell phones, I literally saw a 6 year old texting on his phone one day while passing by an elementary school! Kids these days...

A lot of 21 year olds in here it seems so I'll ask a question to our older members. Is it really all down hill from here? lol I dont think a days past since I turned 21 that I've been told that.

No it is not. 95% of the best days of my life have happened after 25.

Most of the years before about 30 or so were a waste of time, as I look back. Education and the military aside.

Life truly "began" in terms of how to run my life, how to optimize my skills and, most importantly, use them where they are needed most and be a contributor in the world at around the time between 30 and 40.

Earlier on it was all fun and games as a life style and other over uses of things that are meant to be done infrequently.

Best years of my life...10-17...then 22-26... then 29 to present! :)
10-17 was young dumb full of...yeah! :)
22-26 started my businesses...lots of money, fun, parties!!!!
my son was born when i was 26 so i had to chill. now that he is 4, life is fun again. im a single dad so its just me and him and i couldnt ask for more.
BUT!
