Eris Users Rejoice!

Like past OTA updates i'm sure that this is going to take 1-2 weeks for everyone to get it.

We all just have to be patient.

It's not based on where you live, how old you are, your height, how much money you make or how good looking you are.

So no need to post "Wisconsin no Update!", because past attempts have shown that it doesn't matter where you are from. Apparently there is no rhyme or reason for who and when you get the update.

I just woke up to mine getting the update. Was on V3 Leak also. I didn't think to check all of my numbers on mine before the update, but compared to my wife's Eris on 2.1 official OTA, the Baseband and software numbers are different on ours now. Not sure if they were before or not.

I see no improvement on signal bars, still have 50% signal bug and now my awake time is 100% even after letting the phone sleep for 30 minutes straight. Not sure I like that, but if it somehow fixes the silent phone bug, I can deal with the others. Maybe. I don't know what the 100% awake showing will do....

Also, I just checked now and mine is showing 1.49 S-On still on the HBoot..

Update:

After checking the HBoot and pulling the battery, my awake time is now OK on the restart! Showing an Up time of 10 minutes and Awake time of 3 minutes. Just needed to reboot it for that, but 50% signal bug was not fixed on mine

From what I can see of the thread on what Rom do I have on here...

The differences are :
Baseband 2.42.01.04.27
Build Number 2.37.605.4 CL185970
Software Number 2.37.605.4

Everything else looks the same as V3 in that other thread on here..

Long time lurker, but this is my first time posting.

I did receive the update today. I'm running 2.1 from the OTA update (although I did the update myself because I got tired of waiting).

Whatever info you guys want from it, I can give you. Just wanted to confirm that it did start rolling out today. Checked w/ another family member and they also got it.

You didn't leak, correct?

If he didn't leak, can someone walk him through the process of determining which version of hboot the update is pushing?

I can confirm that the 50% without signal bug WAS NOT fixed. Still had it after automatic reboot with the update. Had to do the airplane trick to get rid of it.

I am in PA

OMG that must mean that if I live in PA and I haven't gotten the update yet, that something is wrong!!

/s :D

Guys, again, it doesn't matter where anyone lives, so asking where they live serves no purpose other than to make you feel good?

To each his/her own...

Willdogs,

It all depends on which side of PA you are on. There may be something wrong. There is a right side and a wrong side.. ;)

OK. I just don't want to brick my phone. I am sure I could handle it but not sure I would use any of the additional functionality it provides.

Yeah, I felt the same way for a long time. I held-on (like Frisco and many others) to 1.5 and did not "leak" (well, not much anyway :D). Then, when the official 2.1 OTA started, I was worried that I would lose the ability to root forever. Thankfully, that did not happen. I rooted on the weekend that the OTA was being pushed-out.

I must say it was a little scary (no pun intended) at first, but I'm glad that I did it. That being said, you really should carefully consider whether or not rooting is right for you and if you would actually gain anything from it (function-wise and knowledge-wise). I've learned much from the experience of doing it, but it is very disconcerting to see how many have rooted or tried to root "just because" without really doing their homework and knowing what they will use it for.

The good news is that you should always have the option if you wish to. Be patient and let the decision come to you on its own. Cheers!

Sorry to sound like I've been living under a rock, but can someone tell me what is the 50% without signal bug and how do you know if you have it?

Thanks

Power down your phone and on the restart go to Menu-Settings-About Phone-Battery- What has been using battery- and then look at Cell Stand-by. If it is showing 50% signal loss, then you have it...

I never actually checked mine but it said Maps 75%, Cell Standby 17%, Phone idle 6%. Android system 2%.

But I'm running the Hero baseband, so if it fixes the issue, mine was fixed and you'll get it with the ota.
