"Error Insufficient Storage" With Plenty of Internal Memory

My wife and I have two LG Optimus F6 MS500 phones running the stock 10i version of 4.1.2. She is angry with me because she can't download any more apps to her phone. I am in hot water and would really appreciate your help.

I unlocked and rooted both phones and removed the Metro bloatware and had no problems. I suspect the memory issue might be related to Link2sd which I used to link many apps to the SD card. Although both phones show several hundred mb of available internal memory and 25 GB + of memory on the microsd card, I get the insufficient internal memory message every time I attempt to download even the smallest apps from the Play Store.

I deleted the cache and data for the Google Play app then ran three different system cleaner utilities and rebooted. The problem remains. I created two 'primary' partitions on the Class 10 microsd cards as instructed on a post here. The larger FAT32 and the much smaller 2GB partition EXT2. I have adjusted the settings on Link2sd several different ways but the problem remains.

The phones seem to function well except for this problem. The F6 has very little internal memory so a solution like Link2sd is needed to make the phone functional. Wife is very upset with me. I would appreciate your advice.

Thank you

edit: based upon another post here I tried mounting and unmounting the sd card. The memory problem remains

I paid the $2.14 for the pro version of link2sd and used it to link all applications including data (a pro feature) issue resolved for me

I created a second partition of 4 GB in ext 4 and left the first partition fat32.

I currently have 184 apps installed without any issues.

Also, I used link2sd to convert system apps like Google plus and chrome to user apps, but be careful. Converting them caused them to stop functioning and created a uid mismatch. Do not convert essential apps. Then I used fix permissions by sterricson on the play store. I fixed the permissions of all converted apps. This allowed me to link them with data to SD as well freeing valuable internal space. I set links to auto link all installed apps to SD with data. Give it a try. Pm me if you need any assistance.

Thanks for your input Tony. Do you think using ext2 instead of ext4 is the source of my problems? I have not "fixed" any permissions and wasn't aware of the need to do that.

NI'm not too sure about the differences between ext2, ext3, and ext4 I was told by another member to use ext4. The source of your problem and mine too seemed to be the data files that remained on internal even after the application was linked to SD. I bought the pro version to link those data files to SD as well. That fixed my issue until system apps updated several times and the problem returned. This is why I converted unnecessary system apps like Google plus, chrome, Google play books/movies/games/newsstand etc to user apps so I could link them to SD also. That seemed to free enough internal that I have not had the issue again even with over 180 apps(3.2gb) installed and linked to SD.

And the permission fix was for apps you convert from system to user apps. Doing the conversion breaks them on our phone and the fix permissions app makes them work again. You have to reboot and then fix permissions after the warning you click I feel lucky, then you will get constant force closes from all apps you converted till you fix its permissions with that app and reboot.

I used Ext4, got no problems

What firmware are you running on? I or 12B, do you have root? Follow this guide if you are rooted

hopefully this will help, before everytime I try to download an app from the Play market, I would get an error message that said insufficient storage.

Now, any time this happens, I simply clean out the cache on my phone, and I'm able to download the app(s).

When you move apps to your sdcard do you notice that they run much slower? Also, what kind of sdcard are you using (ex: samsung class10, sandisk class4)? Im asking because all the apps i move using link2sd are noticeably slower than before. My 32gb sdcard says it is class10 but its a brand ive never heard of (Lexar). I got it because it was only $20. Also I used pressy's sd hack first and it made everything on my my phone so slow that i had to flash everything back to stock and start over. Have you used his sd hack before and if so how did it work for you.(for link2sd im using a 4gb ext4 partition, with the sd hack i had 4gb of fat32 and the rest was ext4) Any insight you could give me will be very helpful and greatly appreciated.

I use link2sd and i dont find it going any slower i dont have a very fast sd card because its big 32GB and i didint need a very fast one

I would get this error if I had used an app -- not sure which one, ROM Toolbox Lite? -- to change the default installation from the phone to the SD card.
Once I switched it back, the error disappeared.

I recently started having this issue.
I installed an app to my /system directory, and updated it through Google Play, and was hit with the "Insufficient Storage" issue.
I uninstalled the app and removed all traces of it from my /system (300mb with the app) and tried to install it via Google Play to my internal (~500mb free without the app)
Again, "Insufficient Storage"

I ended up making a CWM backup of my phone, downloading the app via Play (without issue), and copied the .apk of the app with the data/settings to my SD via Android Tuner, restored from the CWM backup, and installed the app without any issue.

My issue was with Google Play. If you are able to use another phone or find a .apk online of the app you're installing, I suggest try using that to rule out Google Play as the issue.

I'm also having issues with reported internal storage - one minute I have 400mb the next 500 then 600+ - but still can't install a 2mb app FFS!

I also using Linked2SD which doesn't really seem to be doing anything useful for me at this point in time :(

I am having this same problem as well.

restoring does not work and I can't even install the app off my sd card to root the phone again

Hey peoples i totally forget where i recently read a forum think in the s3 forums maybe xda but either way point is they were saying that link2sd doesnt work properly anymore and was recommended to use other similar apps. Ive used apps2sd previously. Op ive had similar problem before and cleared the store app data like you have to know avail. I did find that was some app that i used that was giving me problems. Good luck

You MUST use the 11extsd2internalsd script WITH Link2SD

http://androidforums.com/metropcs-o...902-best-method-external-internal-memory.html

If not you will still run out on memory...must be paid version Link2SD Plus as well.

This will fix your wife's phones problem it fixed mines just now.
It hit me like a brick when I remembered that either Lucky Patcher or Link2sd one of them (or both) I changed the "install directory" option to automatic instead of choosing external. Change back to automatic and you should be good.

OMG he's right it just worked for me. It's not a space issue. I have >500 mb left on my internal and I couldnt dl even a few meg font file. Now that I changed to automatic, all seems well.

Thanks, Spiere, your suggestion fixed my same issue. I opened Link2sd, settings, under "Native app2sd settings", Install Location, set install location to " Automatic " which fixed my insufficient storage issue. Again, thanks.
I register with this Forum to both thank you and help others with same issue.

I wonder if anyone would be able to help me. I've tried and tried to get my WhatsApp updated but to no avail. I have since uninstalled it and downloaded what feels to be all the apps under the sun to fix the issue (how ironic, that I have to download so many yet I apparently have insufficient storage). I tried the Link2SD and got as far as 'install location' - a message appears saying:

"Error running exec( ). Command:[/data/data/com.buak.Link2SD/files/getilc] Working Directory: Null Environment: Null"

Anyone know what I can do? Any help is much appreciated! :)

Thank you, this worked perfectly!
