Root Esteem devs, themers and OG's to SGS3

Well I'm not saying the s3 isn't a great phone, it is, but I wouldn't consider it game changing. I'm talking like what the first iPhone did to the future of phones.

Not to that extent, but still innovation. Not just performance upgrades, a new display, and a few other things I'll never use. Something new that's gonna make me slap $400+ on the table and not think twice about it. Cause if I (keyword I) bought the s3 I'd be doing the exact same things I'm doing on my Esteem.

If drifta would switch & make a 2.0 for the s3 I would definitely go. But I do love this phone. It kicks ass.
 
wait...so is this just hypothetical banter or is the s3 potentially coming to metro??

nevermind i actually read a few posts up...lol...i wish they would get the nexus instead...i just cant bring myself to like how the s3 looks...it has some ground breaking features but it just looks weird...werid shape...and that one hardware button kills me for some reason lol.

I understand what your saying. Nothing will be ground breaking when comparing the iPhone as a reference. Cause honestly Google has been ground breaking for the past 2 years with every high end device they push. Nothing will ever be on the iPhone level because that was the start of a new generation in phones.

Google glasses might be ground breaking on that level but that's an add on, not a phone.

I use my phone for the bare minimum shit, so for me i would gain nothing by getting the s3. But i would get it because of the dual core, more ghz, the display and the fact that the dev will be on fire. We will have everything, ics, cm9, jelly bean and whatever is next. That's the main reasons for me and I'm a minimal features user.

thats pretty cool...maybe it will bring metro out of the shitter and make those peeps that predicted metro going under by the end of next year eat their words...but who knows.

i have decided that if the s3 comes to metro before i decide to switch carriers i will probably get it...but i really have my sites set on the galaxy nexus.

Yeah i would love the nexus too but my $40 a month is oh so sweet. Lol

I'm on the old plan :D I got grandfathered in. Only multimedia counts towards my data usage so it never moves for me. :D
 
All depends on the price tag for me-who am I kidding my other son would love my poor old Esteem ;)
 
I was grandfathered in initially on $50 plan. Now since I had to replace my Esteem I had to get one of the NEW plans. 250MB on 4G, for $40. I am on wifi the majority of the time. Works good for me.
 
I might, if the price was right. I'm starting to get my financials back in order, and I don't wanna go into a spiral over a phone I want but don't really need lol
Our lovely little Esteem is great as is, and with PG and MT's work it has become a monster in our little Metro pond. :P
 
I just checked out the S3. Looking good too. I love the Esteem to the point I repurchased it after ole dude (MF) ripped me off. Sucka cost me $ 418 with all the charges. I would have to win the lottery or get a lucky spin at the casino to pay over $200 on a phone anytime soon. Got to wait and see what specs they minimize for Metro PCS.
 
Were not all made of money... ill be here for a while patiently waiting for cm9

Dont care how long it takes. totally worth every day spent..

Wait what? Limits??? Im on 50/month unlimited everything... lol does that no longer exist?

I thought I was also(the supposed grandfather plan)-I pay $50 and my data is capped at 1gb -but I have metronav..loopt-and I few other useless metro apps that I never use included in the plan.
Realized this when we activated my sons esteem-his plan is $50 as well with 2.5gb without all the metro stuff.
Really no such thing as unlimited unless you pay the $70:(:thumbdown:

I thought you would have 2.5 GB at 4G Gbiggie with $50 plan.
Ahh thats the old plan where they dont count alot of stuff as data, right??
 
I dont know if you guys heard or not...but one of metro's partners Leap Wireless (Cricket communications, also pre-paid) got the iPhone 4S. Not that I in anyways want that phone to metro but that is an extremely high end phone so it would make sense that Metro would have to up the ante to stay competitive!!!

*EDIT* if SG3 did come yeah it will be full retail price more than likely...def wallet buster!! :( Also boost mobile has that HTC Evo Design 4g or whatever its called I cant remember single core but has ics and a fairly new version of sense. So thats not too terrible. I think soon we should see some newer phones rolling in! Hopefully....lol
 
Full price for the SG3? Yeah right. That's about $600. I would rather stick with my esteem than pay that much. :smokingsomb:

same here full price will leave me money less for a long time lol im sure the esteem would feel like new and improved with cm9;)
 
I see what you mean fuzzy and you brought up some good points, especially with the development once root is made.

But I definitely agree with others. For me to make any final decision I'd need to see what they dumb down for metro and the final price. $400 MAYBE, but definitely not $600 (even though I'm almost certain it won't be that much but you never know).
