Even though 3D phones seem gimmicky...

3d is a bit gimmicky but yeah its nice to see Android at the forefront of this and NFC. Now people will definitely be falling in fountains more often, we will have all kinds of funny videos on youtube. NFC will be popularized once it has been proven to be safe and someone (could be Apple) markets the crap out of it with a well-known bank and/or retailer.

I'm not sure how mindblowing 3d porn would be. 3D on these devices looks more like a popup book (SEXY!!!!) rather than an actual 3D image lunging out at you...

This might be a dumb question but how is 3D going to work on a phone? Are we going to have to use those 3D glasses? lol.

No glasses. It is autostereoscopic like those 3D postcards.

Regarding 3D technology it will be very successful as any previous technology which provided innovative access to large selection of porn. We can witness here some of those emerging 3D X-content providers:D.

For me the overall spec of the phone is the main attraction, the fact it has 3D is a nice little extra that I will hopefully try out before making a final decision on the phone - I have a while yet before I can upgrade.

If it looks good then I'll happily make use of it, why not!

Presumably the 3D effect only works in landscape? Surely the screen can't offer this kind of lenticular effect on both horizontal and landscape viewing?

From what I've read the 3D is only for photo's and videos if you want to use it, you're not forced to, but at 1080p the video has to be 2D

I hope the vids are in a convenient format like MP4 rather than 3gp; I want to be able to copy them onto my PS3!

3D is for landscape, would make little sense in the narrow screen. 1080p is 2D, 3D is at 720p - probably due to the limitation on computing power. What is the file format for video is a good question. Maybe it is selectable?

Here's one thing, the original EVO w/ Kickstand seemed like a gimmick at first. But it actually end up being a lil game changer in itself.

How do we not know that the E3D w/ 3D might not do the same?

I believe Sprint Hanna mentioned that the video formats would be .mp4 and .3gp

Am I the only one who thinks 10 years from now when thousands of kids have strange eye problems and constant migrain headaches they are going to link it back to all this 3D?

LOL! You would think so. As mentioned though, 3D is primarily for pictures and video. It isn't something you have to look at all day everyday. No one has to watch 3D videos or look at the pictures all the time.

Start keeping track of everyone that says 3D sucks, is useless and a gimmick. Fast forward a year after the Evo3D is released and I can almost guarantee you more than half will be singing a different tune in summer 2012 if the next Evo ships without 3D

Cool. I'll take that bet!

Yeah, but i don't understand their argument. If you don't want 3D, don't use it.

It's not hurting the other specs in any way. The rest of the phone is top notch (best i've ever seen).

I can't think of anything they've compromised other than the camera because of 3D.

Maybe the weight and thinness but who cares about that? :o

My main problem is the gaudy, protruding cameras and the crappy answer they have for the kickstand. Sure I can buy a kickstand case. By the looks of it I still won't be able to charge while using the kickstand (so I will have to use a dock for alarm clock mode which apparently doesn't support having a case on the device). In short, I am finding people are more upset at what they have to give up FOR 3D rather than the fact that 3D is simply included.

Worth noting that the Shift (release January) and the TBolt (released last month) both have their charging ports on the left side (as viewed from the front), just like this one.

It's kinda apparent that HTC seems to have standardized that placement where the charging/data paths are concerned - and kickstand use just hasn't played into their decision, apparently.

I see the trend, and am generally unhappy with it. :(
