Root Evervolv-Acies

The TechnoFrog
ROM - Evervolv Acies
Web - Evervolv
Latest: Direct Download

I have been Using Evervolv for a week. I have not installed any other kernels or have I used DT's a2sd. I am running about 75 programs and only have used about half of my phones memory. I find this to be very impressive for a ROM

Launcher: I have been using Go Launcher I have not used the default laucher that comes with it. Go has really spoiled me. (Launcher EX, Contacts, Keyboard, Chat, and SMS)

I had to install GAPPS but with an ASOP that is to be expected. However there were no issues and everything installed nicely. Was able to run setup and within 15 to 20 minutes I had all programs installed (With a lot of help from Titanium Pro)

I have not had any issues with my programs not running or always needing to be forced closed. Have gone a couple of days with out having to reboot and have had no issues. (I try to reboot every day to clean cache and dalvic cache but I went 2 days with out doing so this week)

Overall the ROM is very solid. I believe development will only get better for this one. It has a few of its own settings and uses a cyanogenmod kernel. Boot time is a bit to be desired but I haven't run to many ROMs that don't take about 5 minutes to boot.

I give Evervolv a 4 out of 5. I feel they need to have more settings and quicken up the boot process.

YRMV, I do not expect your results to be exactly the same as mine and you shouldn't either. I would recommend you try the ROM but whether you keep it or not would be up to you.

Please note: I am not discussing Battery issues as they:
1. Fall more under kernel control than ROM control
2. Has way to many variables that determine how well your battery will work. Example: How close / Far you are from tower, How you set screen brightness. How many apps run in background, etc.

Happy Flashing

PS. EDIT: I did install tiamat kernel today. However Evervolv does not give you a settings for the kernel so you cannot adjust the govenor of it or over/underclock. This may turn some people off but I did get decent battery with the stock kernel.

i might need to try this. been kind of lazy the past few weeks. might have to kick start my flashing fix again. thanx for the idea.

This is a really fine looking and operating rom! Thanks for posting this thread.

As a side note, I have it in one of the slots available in the app Boot Manager. Works great!

Is using the bootmanager any faster than just restoring backups?
I have 6 nandroids that i switch between in recovery and that seems to work realy well. just wondering

Once you get the roms into the slots and working, which I admit takes some effort, YES! You basically just go into the app, choose the Rom you want, and it reboots right in to it. Just takes the amount of time it would take you to reboot into the rom normally.

When you change roms does it save the changes you made to the rom ? In other words if you are using mikg and added some apps and have some text then boot to say cm7 then when you go back to mikg is it the way it was when you changed roms or is it back to when you 1st put it in to the slot? hope this makes sense.

Your settings and all are preserved yes. I really like bootmanager to try out different roms. I can say though that dustwun is right about the setup of it. It takes a bit to learn how to do it. Just remember you will need gapps and I have found that bootmanager is more favorable to AOSP roms than Sense Roms. So there are some draw backs. I was not able to successfully install mik3d, synergy, and a few other Sense roms however I was able to install VR Gengersense and VR Kingdom. So it will be trial and error. They have a list on their website of all the supported ROMs (Virus Roms were not on it but they did work) But Try them out anyways. I do hope future versions will be more compatible and easier to load ROMs into. Also I hope that they work something out with the need to have gapps.

I got Mik3d installed to sd from a nandroid, did you try it that way?

Got distracted.

Some other tips. I had to mess with the sd booster settings some to get the different ones to work. It does help to reboot it after you get it installed.

They say you can install a rom, either zipping or restoring from nandroid, while running a rom in a slot. I found for me, that it worked more reliably when I did my installs to the slots from the phone rom.

I installed the aosp roms via zipping. Put the sense ones on via nandroid.
