"EVO 3D Oval Office"

WaSTeLaND and myself both said we'd have a factory Froyo by July's end, 2010. We were called names, questioned and laughed at, but we were right.

I predicted we'd have Gingerbread by now - it didn't happen and the worst thing was dan330 wanting to toss some eggs (gotta admit, a good response) - but no one got terribly bent.

I just don't see BSOD getting more wrong or right than us other Great Predictors - so, srsly, let's chum up and enjoy the ride, regardless of which side of the aisle you sit. :) ;)

I think the Evo 3D is shaping up to be: rather interesting.
I have no problem with people making predictions and getting them wrong. Where I have a problem is when someone claims to be an insider who has proven credentials in the past, claims to be getting permission from higher ups to leak inside info, claims he will be on stage and give a shout out to this forum, is totally wrong on all accounts and the shout out never happens, and then when you look through his post history you see he never actually had inside info in the past like he claimed but was in fact an admitted newb.

Maybe you can fill us all in... What predictions did he make in the past that came true? And I am not saying this to bash the guy. I am seriously trying to look for any possible reason to give him the benefit of the doubt (which I did until the announcement showed he was wrong on all accounts). So far, all I have seen was him make a bunch of claims that did not come true, make a few more claims that were already leaked by reputable sources before he posted it, and claim he leaked a bunch of info on the OG Evo that his post history clearly shows he did not.

If he made some great predictions in the past that give him credibility, then I would appreciate knowing about it. It would probably change the way I view his posts. But as near as I can tell, he came in claiming that he was accurate in the past, a few people confused him with someone else that actually was accurate in the past, everyone else trusted the people that mistook him for someone else, and he basically trolled us all under the guise of someone else's accurate inside info that was mistakenly credited to him.

well.. just to discuss the on stage thing..

if the company did hose him.. and he lost 3 months of development... and the new phone was nothing he is familiar with.... last minute changes and all.

would he still be scheduled to go on stage to talk???
what would he be talking about?? his whole presentation would be FUBR'ed.

that is if he was being honest. ;)
Well after he was called on all of that he said he works for Intel and was working on the Evo 3D to get the 4G to work properly. So what would an Intel employee have been doing on stage at the announcement anyway?

if my memory servers me right.... he said that about the og evo...
was with intel and helped on a project with 4G and wanted to work on the first phone with 4G... it was not about the evo 3D

Well that would be even worse for his credibility. We have seen his post history where he admitted he didn't know a darn thing about the Evo, was a newbie to cell phones, and was happy with all the info everyone here gave him about the Evo. So if he is now claiming that during that time he was actually working on the Evo and was on the team that gave it 4G, well, that doesn't make sense.

Why not just get off BSOD and talk about the phone? Does it really make anybody's life better to argue the facts further?
To be honest, if this guy has credibility or not is pretty relevant to discussing this phone. He made a lot of claims about things that we should expect in this phone, even though they weren't announced. If I can just chalk that up as bull, or if I can chalk it up as being pretty likely to happen, is kind of important when discussing this phone.

We have one mod here saying he is giving him the benefit of the doubt, and another mod basically saying the dude is full of it. I gave him the benefit of the doubt until the announcement was totally different than what he claimed it would be. And now I am seeing a mod continue to give him the benefit of the doubt. I am wondering if there is any factual evidence that would make me reconsider giving him the benefit of the doubt (there is sure a lot that would make me want to write him off as a fraud, that's for sure).

BlackD... i am not trying to argue in circles about BS..

i posted about someone's post about him not being on stage..
i said maybe his presentation was cut... because it was old info.
dont try to confuse and muddy the one point of argument that I made.

Simple fact is dudes posts should be taken with a grain of salt. Did I believe him? No. Do I now. Obviously not. Thing is there's nothing wrong to call a guy out for a fallacy he made. Just as he has every right to defend himself and prove the nay sayers wrong.

The thing is lies or not it doesnt actually hurt anyone. He'll get what's coming to him because Karma's a bitch.

I think the majority of us can now agree that he was/potentially still is, a troll. I just hope he stops, with every new post he makes, he's only adding fuel to the fire, and causing more unneeded drama and negativity.

Frankly, unless he manages to get the CEO of HTC to record a video explaining his involvement with the phone, his credibility will remain completely tarnished.

Anyway, as far as the phone itself, I'm sort of in a middle ground with it, it's strange, in some ways, I am pretty excited for it, but I'm also disappointed by it.

If I can get Sprint to honor the 1-year upgrade this one last time, I'll likely still get it. Chances are by next year I could sell the EVO3D and upgrade to a newer phone paying similarly to new customer pricing anyway.

Hey MODS, can this thread get a "do over"? All this back and forth stuff is really taking away from the discussion at hand.
And what is the discussion at hand? lol, read the first post. This thread started out by debating if the claims were legit or not. Most of the posts in this thread are on that very subject. That IS the discussion at hand in this thread. There is a whole forum for other discussions on the Evo 3D, but this thread was specifically about the claims one poster made about the Evo 3D, and why they didn't come true (but still may come true).

Then there's the fact our little Blue friend made this topic himself.

As for my thoughts on the 3D, most of you probably saw it on the other thread we were on or the newest post in the Evo 4G forum that a guy compiled all Bluescreen said on it.

further more there were only 3 people on stage during the whole announcement. Sprints CEO, HTC's VP, and Sprints director of product development.

so......

Actually, that has nothing to do with discussing the phone, that is discussing what he said and his credibility. Your opening statement is a self-validation for continuing a discussion which is really pointless.

I have always enjoyed discussing, debating and the occasional jab with you and many others on this thread, but this particular discussion is becoming a big disappointment. You can discuss the phone, even what was predicted by BSOD without continuing the negativity that has become the core of this thread. You are by far not the worst offender here, so don't take it personally, and while the tone has gotten better recently I just want to see everybody move forward.

Ok can we all concentrate at the task at hand? For us that are not eligible for an early upgrade....is the EVO 3D a worthy upgrade to shell out the full price for? I been really leaning towards keeping my EVO for an extra year.

In all likelihood there will be a "bigger, better" phone next year. You would definitely get more wow factor waiting.
