What i don't get is why they are introducing a galaxy s with lte when galaxy ii is being introduced in europe.

Thunderbolt sold at $150 to a lot of folks, with a LOT of memory.

Just sayin'...

Good point. I suspect verizon's need/desire to get LTE phones out there may have had something to do with it. Also, hardware-wise, the TB isn't really the top of the food chain (it's slightly better than the going on year old EVO) This is 100% assumption on my part though. Does anyone know what it actually retails for?

Forget this. I want my phone to just be a bluetooth headset that'll have projected images for everything, with interactive visuals, just like in Minority Report!

100% agree.

That said, the masses are often not bright - Samsung DROID Charge – VZW’s Second LTE Phone – Officially Coming April 28th for $300

No way is that worth 300 clams on a 2-year contract.

It may go bad for us if that pig flies - $200 is more than plenty on contract.

....responding to the psychological thing. You do not have to think it is psychological. It's very common knowledge it is psychological. It's one of the most overused marketing pricing plans in the world. Odd-even pricing. 199.99 means it is under two hundred.

$300 for a 2 year contract? NO WAY! I'll pay full retail and stay off contract.

EDIT: Did not mean for this to come off like a dick btw

The Sprint Nexus s 4g order page is up on best buy's website...it's going for 699.99 off contract. I really hope the e3d doesn't run that much, or it might put off a lot of us evo 4g owners that lost our gold premier status and were looking to pick it up at retail price

I agree, but keep in mind that BestBuy's full retail price is often much higher then buying directly from Sprint. For example, BB sells the EVO 4G at retail of $600, But direct from Sprint its only $450.

I never referred to the novox77 imaginary anti-penny (surprisingly the actual textbook term for that, btw) especially as it doesn't influence me.

I was referring to a higher actual price.

Given the activation fee that you have to fight over plus tax, a $200 phone ends up already being about a $250 rape. Add in $130 / month or so for 24 months (using real costs, not the advertised 99.99 + 9.99) and THAT is what hits me psychologically.

Add in that Amazon has been selling Evos for a cool hundred bucks, without losing a dime or being overstocked, and that novox77 imaginary anti-penny isn't even in the noise.

So no, I really don't think this phone needs to leave the 150 to 200 range.

Finally, let's remember that all of the supply & demand, and expected projections, and similar discussions we had on the Evo no longer apply - this isn't new territory anymore.

In my opinion. ;)

yeah i forgot to mention all the nickel+dime fees that's part of the bill. I'm on the unlimited plan too and my monthly bill is around $130. Company is footing the bill, otherwise I'd be on the base plan.

If Sprint is smart, they keep the phone at or under the $200 mark. If they were REALLY smart, they'd offer the phone for $100. You know, if the AT&T + T-Mobile deal goes through, it's the smaller carrier like Sprint who has the LEVERAGE to change the entire market by doing exactly this. They offer the flagship phone at such a low price that the big carriers have to do the same to stay competitive.

I'm originally from the Atlanta area, and Delta + ValuJet (AirTran) had the same dynamic. ValuJet offered a super low price during a heavy-travel date. Delta had no choice but to price match. Consumer wins.

So Sprint.... Do the smart thing :) heh, wishful thinking.

I was responding to the quote in your response as I was too lazy to scroll up. Textbook term is anti-penny? For real? I definitely know that is Odd-Even pricing as we're working on pricing plans for a local company. Gotta love the b school projects of paying to work for someone else :/

I don't pay sales taxes on the phone so never worried about that. Activation fee...hmmm the Sprint people told me they'd wave it at the local store. I'm not sure if that's because I get a ~25% discount or not. I know I will at most pay 110% of the advertised price or walk away (if I'm on a contract).

Textbook term is novox77 imaginary anti-penny.

Where do think he got his name from? Not the Easter Bunny.

And I understood what you replied to, so I was simply clarifying.

And ranting.

Ranting and clarifying. :)

We make up for non-truths by being able to not cast shadows.

Srsly, guys do this to each other, so no, there was no truth in it.

Still, it IS the canonically correct term, so don't blame me, I'm just the messenger.
