Root Evo 4G 2.3 rooting question.

Hello,
I had a question, I know everyone is saying that there's no exploit for GB 2.3 etc. But is there a way I can flash the ROM to an earlier version to root the phone and worry about updating to GB later?

you cannot flash anything unless you are rooted. believe me like i said on your other thread if there was a way, then that would be big news. but you can't unless you have at least s-off.

i am in the same boat with my evo. I just got it yesterday and before that i was running a rooted droid X with a pre-rooted gingerbread rom, i guess the main thing i'm trying to say is 1) i really wish i didnt download that udate yesterday, 2) i'm really impatient on waiting til they find an exploit.

is there anyway to sbf back to 2.2 so i can root sooner

Thanks

I have two evos, one that was rooted (since i didn't do the OTA update) and the other one that did the OTA update and no matter what method I tried, nothing works. We just have to wait till the exploit is found.

I know how you feel about being impatient, cause I feel the same way.

Yeah Ive played around on a few of them on my cousins phone. Idk which one he was using. Is there a thread somewhere comparing all of them? I was planning on either Evio or CM7 based on all the positive reviews Ive heard about them but a comparison of their features and reliability would be nice.

I don't think there is a comparison chart per say anywhere for them. Alot of the AOSP roms are CM7 based but themed differently. The best thing you can do is look at the screen shots, download the ones you want to try, nandroid your current setup and flash away. Try them out for a day or so and if you don't like them you can flash a different one or nandroid back.
