Root EVO 4G Bricked

I'll try and keep this to the point, and short and sweet.

My phone was rooted with unrevoked and was running a custom (CM7) rom.

I was in the process of unrooting it by turning S-on with the unrevoked forever s-on tool. This worked flawlessly.

As I was in the process of running the PC3600IMG.zip from my SD card, the flash would never finish. I tried multiple versions that I found online with no success.

I proceeded to try a RUU.exe file instead. Same thing, the flash would not finish and freeze half way through.

During this RUU.exe flash, I unplugged the phone from the usb and I have not been able to access the hboot ever since.

The phone is bricked.

1. Any suggestions or known fix for this?
2. What RUU.exe should I be using? Stats are below

HBOOT 2.10
Radio 2.15.00.11.19

Also, I have done my part doing research on this basically all day long. I have not found anything about this. I have heard though that it may possibly be a partition issue. Does that sound right?

welcome to AF!!!!!

so when you say it never finishes or freezes, what do you mean? does it give you an error? or does it just seem like it is not doing anything?

hmmmmmm ok so the first time you used a ruu(PC36IMG), do you remember where it froze at? on the bootloader screen it should show what it is doing. and how long did you wait that first time?

The bootloader screen does not appear durring a RUU.exe flash. Just a black HTC screen with a green loading bar under it. Besides that, I can no longer access the bootloader.

This is the RUU.exe I'm using. Is it the right one?
RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed

The flash goes through boot, recovery, system, user data and then stops (77%).

I'm assuming it may be somewhere around the wimax portion of the flash. Because when I was able to access the bootloader and run the PC3600IMG.zip, thats where it would freeze.

I waited over 30 minutes for the PC3600IMG.zip from the bootloader, and 3 hours for the RUU.exe flash.

ok well unfortunately i think your phone is bricked. the first time around with the PC36IMG ruu 30 mins is not all unusual. by stopping it in the middle like that will brick the phone, especially if it was installing during the radio part of the ruu.

no bootloader=brick:(

just curious what happens when you try to go to the bootloader?

The phone goes straight to a black screen with HTC in the center and a white

in each corner.

Hey OB,

"Brick" means that there is nothing that can be done to use the device as a phone anymore; correct?

Of course it can be parted out; but I want to know what happens inside that it can not be completely wiped clean and then completely re-programed? Is it the fact that it may cost more to do that that it would be to buy a new phone?

correct. i think people use the term brick way to easily. to brick your phone is to turn your phone into a useless item such as a brick. now i know a lot of uses for bricks, but using it as a phone is not one of them......the term soft brick does not make sense either. bricks is a brick. if you can fix it then it is never bricked in the first place.

it is possible to fix it like you are suggesting. if you were take the phone to a sprint that does repairs, they have programs that might be able to fix some of the bricks that occur. but those programs are not available to the consumer.

and i'm not sure on cost as far as fixing it, to be honest.

That is really unfortunate I do know there are a few members and even a mod selling old excellent condition envoy's for not too much money on this forum if you need a quick replacement.
