Root Evo 4g Keeps rebooting...SD Card

Estes0109

Newbie
I had to partition my sd card for a custom rom (that still didn't run on my phone after doing all that...lol), so I backed up my sd card on my computer and the rom didnt work so I went back to my original rom but I was using my phone a couple of days. Then I backed up my sd card again because I had downloaded things and my phone keep saying "out of space" (it was not that many things downloaded, so didn't understand) but I found out what partitioning really did so I re-partitioned my sd card. It was working fine for the day (wanted to make sure). So I transferred my files back on my sd card last night and now it keeps rebooting. How do I fix it?

I was thinking it may because I may have two of a system file that I need to erase but I don't know what it would be...please help...

Thanks

what rom are you on? what recovery do you have? what class card are you using? how much space do you have on the phone? what ext did you upgrade to, ext3 or ext4? what recovery are you using?

the more details you can give us the better we can help.

I'm on gingerbread 2.3.3. I have RA. It's 16gb, class 2, HC. It was working fine then I put the files back on it. Since I was using it a couple days, it created new files so when I transferred the info over, some of it I said to "merge" or "copy, and keep both".

I have some space on my phone but not a lot which is I why I re-partitioned my card.

I didn't change ext3 to ext4, I just partitioned and changed ext2 to 1024 and swap to 64mb. The first time I partitioned when I was trying to install the Custom Rom, I did change ext2 to ext 3 and ext3 to ext4. But I restored my phone back to it's backup so I thought that erases the first partition. Then I partitioned it for more space.

I took out my sd card and my phone is fine. I dont want to have to erase my entire sd card to figure it out, I'm hoping to find out what file is the one.

Thanks

restoring a NANDROID does not mess with the sdcard on the data and system files on the phone. at best it will restore the ext side of the card. Assuming your original ROM supports partitioning and a2sd.

since its partitioned Windows will not be able to see the partition side of the disk as ext2,3,and 4 are Linux partitions you should backup the card unfortunately and wipe it clean. after you wipe it clean format the card from the phone and do only a fat32 format remove the card and put into a card reader and place it in your windows machine then click start>run type cmd then:
chkdsk x:\ /f /r
replace x with the actual drive letter of your sdcard. see if it has any bad spots if not then you need to go back to phone and partition then go and copy things back see if phone still acts up. if so then delete all contents on the card and see if it acts up then with the card empty.
