Root Evo 4g stuck in loop

Hey guys, my phone was working completely fine from the day i got it till today. Here is my problem, I was at work and my phone died on me, so i plugged it in and didn't look at it for a couple hours. I go back to it and my phone is stuck in a reboot loop. It will boot all the way up to the home screen, sit for a few seconds then reboot itself.

I have tried Fastbooting from Hboot, doing a full wipe from hboot, doing full wipes in recovery mode, i tried restoring a few backups but none of that worked. Please help me somebody, i really need my phone working soon! :(

Thanks for the help, but i just unrooted my phone and that fixed it. Do you think it would be safe to re root it?

more than likely you could have accomplished the same thing just reflashing your ROM but you unrooted. I'll never understand why one unroots when they have more options being rooted. Sure you can reroot the phone however if your solution to solve issues is to unroot it then your probably better off leaving it as is.

For future reference, unrooting is hardly ever the correct way to solve the problem. Chances are all you had to do was wipe dalvik cache & cache in recovery and flashing the ROM over itself and it would have been fine. You wouldnt have even lost your data.

You are fine to re-root the phone, but bookmark the troubleshooting guide in my sig for small issues like that

I appreciate the help but i actually did try wiping the dalvik cache and cache. I also tried to reflash my rom plus a couple backups. none of that would work.

yeah i agree with the other guides that as long as you have a working recovery you can troubleshoot better. i'm glad that unrooting solved your issue though.

as long as you do not update your phone while you are unrooted, it should be safe to re-root your phone. (JUST DO NOT ACCEPT THE OTA) it will make your phone that much harder to root it.

out of curiosity, what is your hboot?
