i came from a BB and was wary of the screen keyboard. after i installed swype, it has changed everything and there is simply no looking back. now i just see keyboards as a waste of space and extra bulk

Evo without a doubt. Of course since the Epic is not out yet it's a little difficult to make a good comparison. But just on specs.

Size wise I prefer the Evo for the larger screen and the Epic is much thicker (almost 2mm) - due the the physical keyboard (which slides out landscape so I guess you use virtual to type portrait).

Looks wise, the evo has a better design. The epic is one ugly device with the rounded ends paired with the massive thickness. I guess if you are going to keep it in your purse (women or men) it would be fine. If it is built as cheap as it looks, the evo will be an award winner in comparison.

You really think EVO out specs the Epic 4G? Well if you do, your incorrect.

Hummingbird > Snapdragon

Super AMOLED > TFT LCD

No 30 FPS Cap = Better scrolling, and graphics all around.

Massive thickness? Oh no! Not a whole 2mm thicker!!! Do you have any idea how big a mm is? It's like the thickness of a paper dollar. Your way over exaggerating here cupcake.

Build quality? So far none of Samsung's phones have had screens lift off the entire phone. And if my Samsung moment(and the fianc

I think he means it is hard to compare just on specs because the Epic is not out yet so we can't test them side by side.

I love my evo, but also miss a physical keyboard, thats because I am not very good on onscreen keyboards, so yeah, its a user era, lol, but that epic looks awesome, yeah, the camera is not as good on paper, but as far as games are concerned, with that processor, and the ability to run games faster the 30 fps, i would consider it when it came out, this is coming from a guy who just cancelled tmobile to get the evo, and stick with Sprint assuming they will continue to launch high end phones before anyone, personally I think the epic 4g looks the ebst out of all the galaxies, plus the screen i heard is amazing in person, not only because its super amoled, but it has 16 million colors, where the Evo has 65,000, still evo is one hell of a phone, I am sure when 2.2 hits, it will be blazing fast, either way I am very impressed with Sprints turnaround as far as phones and service

This reminds of the Samsung Moment vs HTC Hero threads. The Moment was the paper champion, but in real life usage the difference was not impressive enough to carry around a phone you hate looking at. The Evo will be the cooler looking phone (with a tiny fraction less of the paper specs) for the majority of people, so at the end of the day HTC still wins.

lol...I see this alot lately with the X and these Samsung phones coming out. I think its a lil bit more than a "tiny fraction less of the paper specs" :)

Just the differences of the current Snapdragon vs. the current Hummingbird alone is more than a "tiny fraction less of the paper specs"

For the majority of people, that 6 axis-iPhone-ish gyroscope thing, the word "Super" when describing the screen, when Samsung market these Samsung phones as better gaming phones than all the rest....

The EVO has some stiff competition...

Specwise the Epic is better, it really comes down to if you need/like a qwerty keyboard.

Me personally I never became a fan of the qwerty, so I prefer the candy bar type phones.

i went from a iphone 3g to a pre and i missed the on screen keyboard, i felt faster and the auto correct feature is a killer feature. I have a evo now and will not look back but i will get the epic for the wife she is fed up with her pre. She needs the keyboard in her mine.

I think the EVO is better looking than the Epic, but I always like how the Moment looked unlike most people, and thought the Hero was ugly(and buttons were horrible).

I just got off the phone with sprint. I asked about the epic4g and its in there systems for a September release. I bet its being held up for those super amoled screens :)

I have a share plan so im going to upgrade the share to the epic and give the evo to my bro, win win situation!!!!!!!!!

I'll be watching the epic... but in checking out posts from galaxy S owners (non-US folks over on XDA) many are saying they are having lag due to poor storage management. Hopefully will have this corrected before they release these stateside but I'm not planning to be an early adopter of the epic.

The other thing is, I'm coming from WM where sense made a really painful WM UI nice to use. I don't think sense is as important on android but it's another reason I'm going to take a wait and see attitude on the epic due to Samsung's past UI attempts.

I Actually don't like Phys KeyB, but I love playing games on my phone so, I was headed towards the Epic, then I saw how TouchWiz 3.0 was, and it really looked cool

if the epic had a straight slide down keyboard like the palm pre then i'd double guess my buying the evo
not feeling having to turn sideways to use keyboard. Because in landscape its easy to type on the evo with the keyboard. its just the portrait thats a lil tricky

Personally I don't want a hardware keyboard with a screen that big. The Touch Pro 2 (last phone) was perfect w/hardware keyb. 4"+ screen size you should not need a hardware keyboard. If you do..well...You are doing it wrong!

Yet another person who expresses pure opinion as fact. Sad really.

I'm getting this phone when it comes out to replace the pre on my other line but I'm not getting rid of my evo. I love this phone too much as well as this whole community of evo users. I just know we haven't seen the full potential of the evo yet
