Root EVO Constant memory problems

Hoping someone has some advice here. I currently have an EVO 4G that is rooted and flashed running a MIK G rom. Every so often I update the ROM and wipe the phone clean to start from fresh but within a few weeks I am already getting low memory warnings. My dialer storage is taking up over 75 mb of space but I cannot find anyway to clear it. I have tried the app2sd application but there was very little it could do to help. I constantly am trying to find an app I can clear space from but today I got a warning saying I had 3mb of space left and I cannot even open texts without deleting something. Does anyone have an idea that will do more than bandaid the issue? I thought about clearing the Davlik cache but not sure exactly what that removes.

Any thoughts here would be great. I am hoping there is a better option than constantly having to reload my ROM and wipe the phone.

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!
ok not sure what you mean when you say wipe the phone, but you do not wipe dalvik cache. dalvik cache is a place where certain bits of data gets stored temporarily while either the phone boots up or while it is running. it is just a temp storage area. it is alway good to wipe dalvik cache and cache periodically, if you stay on any one rom for a length of time.

and if you want to have more room on the phone then i would suggest that you think about partitioning your sd card. you will need a higher class card and such.

please go to the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...-rooting-gingerbread-2-3-5-dummies-guide.html and go to the second post, and find the partitioning section. it has more info as well as the how to's.

Welcome to the Forums! And you have definitely come to the right place!

Apps2sd seems to be really limited. It doesn't move much to the card.

An over view of what would help is this.

Get at least a 15gig, class 10 card. can find deals on amazon, for instance, all the time. The class refers to the speed the card can perform read/write operations so as not to cause lag on your phone.

you would need to use the phone to format and partition the new card. It would then be a good idea to put a Rom such as mikg3.11 that supports A2SD onto the card and flash it. You would then transfer stuff you wanted to keep from your old card, via pc in recovery or with something like Airdroid.

You would most likely want to use either the Amon Ra or Amon Ra Style recovery for these operations.

A2SD puts a lot more of your apps unto the sd card and saves you internal memory. It even fools the phone into thinking the stuff on the phone, as far as some of the internal reporting tools show, but don't YOU be fooled, you can see how much stuff is getting moved over with apps like Titanium backup pro.

If this all seems like something you would be interested in, most of the info and links are right here in this guide that Ocn wrote for us. http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html

Read it and be sure to ask all the questions you feel the need to! And Welcome again!

Edit: oops, got Samauried!
