Root Evo lte...root?

so like rxpert said i would wait just a bit to root as the devs are about to release an s-off tool that will work on the most current hboots.

keep an eye out for this thread: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte...-sprint-htc-evo-4g-lte-hboot-1-15-1-19-a.html

also if you feel like you want to still root, here is the guide: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte...panda-s-htc-dev-ltevo-root-dummies-guide.html

and if you want to downgrade your hboot to get fully s-off then here is the thread you want to follow: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/631375-downgrade-h-boot-1-15-1-19-s-off.html

and lastly with a rooted phone that is s-on but unlocked, you need to read this: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/606748-how-install-kernels-h-boot-1-15-a.html

but the above threads might not be necessary when the new root tool gets released.

Seems the Dirty Racun was released for 1.19. Im going to get S-Off by following their guide. I got the Goomanager, downloaded the script. So at this point, is there a guide to root with S-OFF - hboot 1.19? from what i read, the dirty racun process onley gives me S-Off and it not actually rooting the device.

EDIT: I will have s-off so i assume i just go to http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte...panda-s-htc-dev-ltevo-root-dummies-guide.html

yep just try the dirtyracun method to get fully get s-off.

OK I'm a little confused at the moment. I have S-Off and I've unlocked the bootloader through the htcdev site. I'm now lost lol

do you have a recovery? if not you will need a recovery. for directions for that go to the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte...g-dummies-guide-lazypanda-racun-unlocked.html. head on over to section 2 and find the unlocking method. in that section go to option 2 and step 2-3. this will give you a recovery and all you will need to do after that is to either flash the su file or flash a rom.

Excellent! May i ask what the difference is between the SU and just flashing a rom onto the device? Last time i rooted i had to get SU first, then i put different roms on

ok, I got through everything, flashed a new rom but heres the problem now....when i boot my phone, it gets stuck at the Cyanogen Mod splash screen.....it just spun for an hour straight

OK, i downloaded cm from another source, now i wiped both caches and then system. reinstalled the cm rom and i am currently on the spinning splash screen.

Double check your download.

Did the site have a md5 published?

If so, check your flash image on your sd card using EStrongs File Explorer (long press file name, properties, calculate ...) and see if they agree.

Should be able to get the sd card to mount through TWRP.

that was it! just needed to do a complete wipe. I downloaded CM -10.0.0-jewel. one last question. What exactly is cm nightlys? is it the same as what i have ? Also, i dont have titanium backup should i get that and is the point just to back up your rooted phone?

The it looks like you downloaded the stable build. The night lies are the cutting edge ROMs that get built every night with changes incorporated from that day. Some bugs may be squished but there also may be new ones caused by changing something else.

Titanium backup backs up your apps and their data. Its useful for bringing theme from ROM to ROM without losing progress on apps.

Nandroids backup everything. Titanium is for going between ROMs

Got it.... also lied about asking 1 last question lol. I was loading some apps and I noticed there isn't a menus/lettings button within the attached app. The ltevo doesn't have a dedicated menu/settings button. Is there a different ROM or a way to access in app settings and menus?

Pull down the Notification bar, click the Settings button (should be at the top/middle) and scroll down to "System". There should be an option for Hardware keys (I think), and there you can set one of your keys as Menu on press or long press (I think you can also bring bar the Menu bar, if you'd prefer).

Thanks guys, that's the best thing I've ever seen! I was able to keep the button for multi tasking and the same button (long press) for menu! I'm so amazed lol

Yep, I've got it flipped around the other way. I use menu all the time but hardly ever use recent apps

Hey dudes, how's everyone? Just wanted to check in and ask a quick question. I know the the Jelly bean update came out in December. I have been using CM10 since November and still am. My question is, can i restore my original sprint rom (with ICS) and update that to jelly bean? Or will there be some complications because of the S-Off or rooting? Thanks!

just flash a rooted JB rom. it has the ota built into it. never accept an ota while you are rooted. it is much easier to flash a rom instead. you can flash the latest firmware if you like which will update your radios.

Will that rooted JB rom work as well as the OTA? Is there a more stable JB rom than CM10 out there? any recommendation?

I was trying to get the official release from sprint somehow for my stock back up.
