Accessories EVO Screen Protectors Thread

Well I figured I need to hurry and order and now it says 4-8 days on Calrivue. I ordered 2 packs the clear and anti glare. Seemed like a decent price and there is 2 in the box. That way me and my friend can put one of each on and see which one we like better. I hope he's good at putting it on.

MyFishWagon,

I wanted to take a moment and clarify our Matte Finish Full Body Kit production and shipment (what you can expect to receive). Basically, we produce an entire 2 kits made from the Matte film (this includes screens) and also include 2 of our Original Clear screen protectors. This gives our customer the choice of screen coverage. Matte screen coverage is definitely a personal preference. We feel there are significant features and benefits to the Matte finish, but some customers prefer the clear screen protector.

For those customers that have tried our Matte Screen protectors and wish to order them without the rest of the Full Body Kit, you can order Clear Screen Protectors and put a "Note to PhantomSkinz" in your order indicating that you ONLY want the Matte screen protectors. You will only receive Matte Screen Protectors.

I hope this clarifies things.

Guru
So you are saying that the matte Full Body Kit comes with two complete sets of matte body protection, as well as 2 matte and 2 clear screen protectors?

2x full body kit
2x matte screen protector
2x clear screen protector

Is boxwave better than Calrivue? I still need to order. Was going to do Calrivue clear and ant glare to try both but I may just do the clear. I still can't decide and I need to hurry since my EVO will be here soon.

The Boxwave "clear" is the best I have seen so far. The main drawback is fingerprints, but that is the problem with all "clear" types. That's why I ordered a combo of Clear and Anti-glare. I will try the anti-glare and will switch back to the "clear" if I don't like the Anti-glare.

ZAGG REVIEW?!?!
Ok, just finished my Zagg install. Instructions were very clear. They included sprayer to prevent dust and easy install. A squeegee which was made rubbery, not just a card.

Took me about 5 mins to do it correctly. I sprayed down my hands and the screen protector, but then I realized that the solution that they gave wasn't enough. It also dried too quickly. I had to constantly spray and apply. After 2 applications, the little sprayer seemed like it ran out of solution so I had to work my way without it.

Dust/lint? I don't know if it's my house, but every screen protector that I've put on in my life had dust in it. I couldn't avoid it. But the screen protector from ZAGG did make it easier to install. the lint doesn't give air bubbles as badly as the ones without sprayer!

The install is complete. I need to wait 24hrs for the bubbles and the stuff to dry out. Hopefully it's clear without any bubbles afterward. YES YES YES.. it's damn rubbery. Feels exactly like BodyGuardz that I have on my Touch Pro2. Perhaps a little bit more rubbery. Doesn't give fingerprints, or should I say very minimal and hardly able to tell. Orange peel? I don't see it yet, maybe after a while?

Will add pictures in my own thread.

I didn't order a 3M Screen Protector... I ordered Stealth Guard. It just seems odd that that is all it is... 3M film. Not to mention it didnt come with any solution or a squeegie... it just says to use water? That's strange to me.

I just received my stealth guards too. I've heard some good reviews about them, so i don't think it'll be a problem. Besides, for me, I just bought them because it's a good price and i could put it on right away while i wait for steinheil or something

I have had the ZAGG on my Blackberry for two years. I just cant decide if I was to put one on the EVO or not. It does protect very well. It shows no scratches at all. I did start getting some "orange peel" after about 1 1/2 years and the corners are starting to come loose. Over all I really liked it, just don't know if there is something out there that is even better.

Rose, I ordered my Clarivue SPs on the 27th, got got an email saying they were on back order and would ship in 4-8 days. Yesterday, I got an email saying my order had shipped! So hopefully yours will as well and we will get them in time for our EVO launch :D

I ordered Screenguardz from HTC. It comes with 15 in a pack. It's not my #1 choice but it will do for now. Eventually I want to get Steinheil whenever they get the EVO sp available.

I just ordered the Boxwave anti-glare screen protector.
I had one on my Instinct and on my wife's TP2, and we both love them. You should only ever need one - they seem to last forever.

While the shiny screen on the Evo is striking, I'm always having to wipe it on my shirt because the fingerprints show so much. I'm looking forward to the anti-glare finish.

I'm thinking about ordering a Boxwave anti glare to compare to the Clarivue clear when I get it. Then use which ever one I like best.

Anyone have any idea how the ghost armor or other "skin" type screen protectors fair against fingerprints? I had a Zagg on my iPhone a while back and loved that it was clear/shiny yet still did a good job at keeping fingerprints away. It did have a little bit of a texture to it so I'd like to get something that did the same thing, just without the texture.

PhantomSkinz (Pre-Order)
Cost
$9.95 Screen Only
$24.95 Full Body
$24.95 Matte Full Body

PhantomSkinz EVO 4G LINK

Personal Thoughts
Originally I was going to get the ZAGG InvisibleSHIELD, however, I heard from friends that it has a rough texture, so moving your finger around your screen may not feel 'right' .. with that being said, I decided to Pre-Order the "screen only" $9.95 PhantomSkinz. Right now, my status is "Held for Shipping" and the S/H Cost was free, so my total was indeed, $9.95

Same here, just made my order yesterday, but just learned that, since it's two different type of protector (matte or regular) and you have 2 sets of kits for your order, i m trying to reach customer service see if i can get each one of them.

Anyone knows if Radio Shack sells one of these screen protectors mentioned in this thread?

I mean, I have to use the $20.00 accessory for something, I can't let it go to waste.

Even if it means putting more of my money to complete purchase.

Ok I've been reading a lot of posts about ZAGG, bodyguardz, ghost-armor, bestskinsever, etc. etc. etc. These protective skins came from a material originally developed to protect helicopter and airplane propellers from wear damage. The material found its way to automotive use as "invisible bra" to protect vehicles from stone chips and damage to the bumper and paint. Now, there are 4 main manufacturers of this material:

3M
Avery
Llumar
Venture

Last I remembered, 3M (maker of scotchgard stone guard material) and Venture were the leading manufacturers and eventually 3M bought venture (makers of ventureshield)

So, long story short, all these smaller companies decided to build on this film's paint protection by laser cutting the material for use with gadgets. Zagg (originally invisibleshield.com) was one of the first companies to do this then came the others. I'm not sure which material Zagg uses, but based on the reviews it sounds like they are using one of 3Ms original scotchgard material. How do I know? I've installed this on a few cars for a buddy of mine who works at a tint shop and I've used ZAGG on a few gadgets. I honestly agree with htc.Evolution - I think there's definitely better material out there now. Personally in MY OPINION I like the material used by ghost-armor and bodyguardz.com. I think these 2 companies used ventureshield and llumar materials - much smoother and offer same protection as 3M.

For those of you who live close to the stickercity factory or want to practice installing this material, just get an xacto knife and bulk sheets from:

Cut To Fit Sheets - StickerCity.com

Cut To Fit Sheets - StickerCity.com

See how cheap the sheets are for the amount of material? Yeah that's right. You're paying for the precision cuts and fitting by these small companies. :) Enjoy

RS only offer ZAGG screen only for sure on the release date. I checked with my local store, they were so nice and show me the official list of accessories for the release day. personally, i didnt find something really i really want, but i do need a car dock, so i will go with that, like $35.00

I just got my stealth guard and have read the installation instructions. You're supposed to let it dry for 24 hours???? You've got to be kidding me!

Does anyone know if you can play with the phone while it's drying?

I ordered the clarivue anti glare. Installed it last night and really pleased!

Perfect fit and no fingerprints!

the only reason i worry about anti glare SP's is that they will slightly dull the images/colors of the screen in comparison to the crystal clear ones. can anyone give any feedback on the difference between the phone and its colors "naked", and with the anti-glare on?

I impulsed the Zagg shield. If I don't like the feel I'll just go naked. Never had much luck with screen protectors, and I usually leave my phone in a case when not in use.

2x full body kit

2x clear screen protector

talz,

When you order a MATTE Full Body Kit from PhantomSkinz for the EVO 4G, you will receive 2 complete kits made from our new Matte Finish material (includes 2 matte finish screen protectors) AND we put 2 of our Original Clear Screen protectors in the kit so our customers can choose which screen protector that they like.
