Well im not sure what you would be backing up yet if its stable or not till we can boot it...I don't know what those existing back ups are...are they yours....wait did you flash amon ra? If so clockwork stuff wont work anyhow they aren't exactly compatible

Did you wipe cache and dalvik and reboot? If that doesn't work we will toggle usb from recovery...drop a zip on there of the rom of your choice...then flash it

Clockwork is dead to you now :) you are better off with amon ra that's why I had you flash that one...you can always switch back if you like by flashing the pc36img for clockwork 2.6.0.1

Yeah down load a rom you like from the link in my signature for roms and kernels to your comp then usb toggle and place the file on your sd card. Then wipe boot, system, data, and cache, this will clean out whatever effed it up to begin with. Then flash the rom you just placed on the card

I'll give it a whirl. Thanks for your patience and letting me ask some beginner questions.

o.k. done. so now that i have flashed cm7 and am back at menu. select reboot system now?

That's expected but can you get to recovery now? We were trying to flash a recovery

Hi Matt,

I have the exact same problem and have been following this thread. This is the post where my problem diverges from this one. I am able to flash the Amon Ra recovery, I choose not to reboot and then I choose "Recovery" and then the boot loop starts as soon as I choose "Recovery". I recall you mentioning that you have a few tricks up your sleeve if this happens. Would you be able to help me please? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Did you try selecting reboot after the update? It may loop but it needs to be done for recovery change to take effect I believe. Then power down and try to go to recovery again. Let me know if that works.

Can you boot the phone up? I assume you have s-off. Did you grab the file from a link in this thread?

Ok, here are the exact steps I took:
1. I turn the phone on and get into the HBOOT screen by pressing the power and the volume down buttons.
2. After a few seconds it asks if I want to start update. I select Yes.
3. After it updates, it asks if I want to reboot device. I select Yes.
4. Device reboots (I get the white HTC Evo 4g screen). A few seconds later, the screen turns black and then a few seconds later the white screen comes on again. I let it do this a few times and then I press the volume down button and I'm now back in the HBOOT screen.
5. I get asked if I want to start update. I select No.
6. I get asked if I want to reboot the device. I select No.
7. Now I'm back at the main menu (Fastboot, Recovery, Clear Storage etc...). I select Recovery. I immediately get the white HTC EVO 4G screen and it the boot looping starts again.

To answer your questions, I used Unrevoker3 to root, which set s-off. The file that I grabbed is the same one in the link above (Media Share file PC36IMG_RA_2.3.zip).
