Root Evo stuck in bootloop after flashing savaged zen 2.0

Newbie
I have spent hours on this and am going in circles. Wondering if my first attempt at flashing a ROM and kernel was an utter failure and resulted in bricking my phone. I am new to this whole deal. Bought phone already rooted. Downloaded ROM manager and Kernel manager. Installed Cynagon7 and after rebooting nothing seemed different on my phone. Then installed savaged zen 2.0 and rebooted. stuck in bootloop since. as i read other posts here people talking about seeing the cynagon7 logo upon fist booting. never got this. everything seemed the same (as before flashing cynagon7). so my problem might be that cynagon7 never took and I tried to flash savaged zen anyway??? anyhow, here is my info that I see when I go into Hboot mode. Recovery does not seem to do anything even though I did a wipe and backup of current Rom with Rom manager before attempting to flash new ROM. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you wipe everything in recovery before you attempted this flash?
Wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache before flashing savaged zen 2.0...savaged zen rom right? not the kernel? Im confused because you mentioned both...

Your phone must have already been running cm7 to look the same, cm7 is completely different that stock sense roms.

welcome to the forums! first off as you are finding out rom manager is very buggy. i would do everything manually. since it looks like you can get into hboot go to recovery and I would wipe data, dalvik cache, and cache then try to re-flash cm7.

I used kernel manager and am pretty sure it had me wipe everything first. and yes it was the savaged zen kernel not the ROM.

I don't think it was running cm7 because I had just flashed it when the newest update came out. I really am not sure what ROM I had as the phone was already rooted when I purchased it and I knew nothing about ROM's then. Still don't really, which is part of my problem I suppose. Thought using these download managers would make it simple.

Would be willing to just go back to factory mode, but can not even get factory reset to work.

Well you have s-off and a custom recovery i take it. What recovery? Clockwork 2.? 3.?, Amon ra?

Savage zen kernel should work with cm7 just have to wipe cache and dalvik first...Go to settings, about phone, and tell me what it says in there...

Mostly looking for mod version and software info...android version, baseband, kernel...

appreciate the welcome and quick response. when i go to recovery it just takes me to a screen with the following options

bootloader
reboot
reboot bootloader
power dwn

also by wiping data, dalvik, cache do you mean selecting "clear storage" from the hboot menu?

No no...

So when you go to hboot you select recovery and it goes to a fastboot menu not clockwork mod or amon ra?

Ok you may not have a recovery loaded...we can fix that...

recovery was clockwork. can't remember which version. had installed ROM manager app which initiated the clockwork recovery.

also, unfortunately can not get to settings as am stuck in boot loop and can not do much more than navigate hboot screen. is it possible to flash an recovery ROM onto my sd card and then reboot with that ROM in my root? I know that I did a recovery and wipe with ROM manager. Not sure why I can not get there with recovery from Hboot screen.

Also did you try just selecting reboot? What does it do? Not crucial but life is easier with the phone actually booted :)

ok so select bootloader and that should take you to another set of options. select recovery and that is where you should be doing your nandroid backups, wiping and flashing.

edit: oops yep sounds like you have lost your recovery some how.

Ok moving on...do you have a card reader? Or does the computer recognize the phone. We need to get a file on your sd card

I have a card reader. When I boot into USB mode the computer has problems recognizing. So yes, I can put my sd cared in the reader and computer recognizes that.

And no I can not reboot. Just goes into htc EVO 4G white screen. Then turns off after a few seconds and comes back on. The never ending loop.

I have to leave my computer for a bit. Really appreciate all your help. So once I get a link to download the recovery pc36img then I can just put this on the root of my sd card. then will i boot into recovery mode and the phone should find this? do i need to delete any of the old ROM or kernel files off of my phone so it does not try to read them too?

No after I grab the link for you name the file pc36img.zip exactly and place it on the very top level (root) of your sd card...boot to hboot and it will find it and flash it automatically because it looks for files with that exact name. You just have to tell it yes to update after it finds it. You'll see what I mean when you get there. Hopefully this gives a custom recovery and we can wipe and boot or flash a rom and boot. If it does not work we have at least a few more tricks :)

Any luck here?

Just got back and grabbed the zip.file. bummed it did not work. runs through some list quicker than I can read. keeps saying something about no image or wrong image? should i have left the clockworkmod file on my sd card. also i deleted the savaged zen zip awhile ago as i originally thought that was the problem. anyhow, if you have an other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It never asked you to update? Just didn't find the file? If thts the case its likely just misnamed....remove the .zip from the end and try again

If there is a file on your root named pc36img and its a zip it WILL find it and ask to update

Well the clockwork file had your backups...probably ok because they were likely the previous owners and we have no idea what they are with some serious work lol the savage zip makes no difference you don't need the zip after a file is flashed

started celebrating too soon. taking the zip off got me past the no image/wrong image lines, asked to update, I said yes. asked to reboot I said yes. But then back to the white htc Evo 4G screen loop.

That's expected but can you get to recovery now? We were trying to flash a recovery
