They're cheaply made and often have no protection circuit in them, this can lead to them catching fire and/or exploding. That is not something you want happening in your pocket or next to your head.
 
Can we try to post another link as soon as someone finds the OEM battery and backing please? I really hate the back bump BUT idk how i would like the plain black look of it either and could anyone tell us how the Generic back feels with it's flat surface and how big it feels compared to the stock 1500mAh battery cover please? May just buy a Generic with no memory, short and overload circuitry and then buy the OEM when we find another sale and try both of them out. Don't like the big bump vs like the silvers and 4G logos on the OEM. Getting a Generic for $12-$15 and an OEM for $10!? $25 tops seems like an amazing deal for 2 Extended batteries.
 
blax1can, what method do YOU use to calibrate? do you use Battery Calibration app, or ClockWork Mod Battery Stats Wipe(Essentially doing the same thing), the battery draining method, what? Out of curiosity

I did it this way too. I got 48 hours.:)
 
I understand that but I am asking what process he uses when he says "calibrate". I use the CWM Wipe Battery Stats
 
Yup... Battery Calibration app doesn't let me feel too comfortable... I see it in a way the the phone needs to have the Bin file deleted then rebooted FRESHLY thus starting a new bin file immediately and fresh then draining. Just makes me feel more comfortable, nothing against the app... personal preference to me I guess doing it the CWM way.
 
i posted in the classifieds if anyone is interested i have that "verizon extended battery" for the esteem with the cover ive only used it on weekends for about 3 months so its only gotten a months worth of use

Firstly I'll just say that I bought the extended battery for the Revolution at a Verizon store a while ago (3000 mah; equivalent to the one for MetroPCS), and always found it very reliable. The EXTREMELY annoying thing was the back battery cover it came with. the phone looked deformed... to put it nicely. after about two months of having an annoying lump on the middle of my phone I was kinda fed up and so I started looking at deals online for diff. batteries. well I came across this thread and saw the 3900 AceSoft battery, but more importantly, the battery cover it came with.
So I decided to buy it... the battery itself was a bit larger than the 3000 mah one from Verizon/Metro so natrually I thought it would last longer. Yeah it does last longer than the stock 1500 but in comparison to the 3000 mah one from Verizon/Metro... it fails disappointingly.
Usually I use Netflix quite often via WiFi/4G. A 21 minute episode of a show would normally drain the battery anywhere from 5-10% with the 3000 mah battery. But with the Acesoft... I was getting more like 15-20% drainage. Surfing the web (on WiFi) with 3000 mah battery is great; 30 minutes and only 3% had dropped. With AceSoft, not quite the case. Noticeably greater amounts of battery were being used.

So basically, yeah... don't trust third party generic batteries. I'm not gonna lie though, the case the battery came with is MUCH better than the humpback whale of a case that came with the one from Verizon/Metro. So I will keep that, but definitely am going to ditch the disappointing "3900 mah" one and go back to the 3000 mah battery from Verizon/Metro. Funny how I basically just ended up paying $40 for a better battery cover...

I was wondering about that also..3rd party batteries. I also bought the Verizon extended a few weeks ago(on sale for $25). Was pricing many extended batteries on eBay but just could bring myself to buy a battery that looked like 2stock taped together ;) Would of saved some $ but with your experience my hunch was correct-junk. Appreciate your post :)
 
Well, blax1can can vouche for all of them... he seems to be the Extended battery expert here. he has played with many different ones and can speak for all. He loves the Generic brand just as much IIRC from his postings.
