Facebook app update available in the market

Holy cow its about friggin time !!!!!!!!!!!!! I dl'ed it and its working great and its fairly fast as well. Had the gf comment on my profile and i got a noti pretty much instantly....
 
BTW if you go to settings and set the notification led to on , the led lights up blue for an fb notification.
 
Ill repeat what I said on DroidXForums:

So now that it seems to have push notifications, what's the best method of not getting the notification and the now useless e-mail (for the notification) at the same time? I thought push notifications automatically delete the e-mail on the server for you so you only get the notification??

Also, I seem to be getting the new push notifications even though my FB settings does not have notifications checked off....what??

If you want to stop the notification e-mails, you need to go to the facebook page on your computer and disable e-mail notifications in your account settings.

Apparently, facebook implemented push notifications without a way to disable notifications. Another half baked app update from facebook.

Oh ok. I figured it needed the e-mails enabled to do the notifications..wasn't that the way on Blackberry or no?

who cares at least it friggin works now. I would much rather have it work and be able to turn it off if i don't want it than to not have it at all.

@just4747 i don't receive a notification and also a dup email notification. i wasn't receiving the emails before either so may be i already had that turned off.
 
The notifications were actually showing up on my phone faster then my email notification! Somewhat impressive compared to before lol.
If you want a good laugh though go look at the "facebook for android" profile. They say its for 2.2 + users and half the people commenting don't even know what "push" notifications are or know how to find out what version they are on.... that just makes me sad... idk, maybe im just a phone nerd...

Well I've yet to see it actually work on anything except chat. Several status comments and wall posts on my fb page tonight, yet not a single push notification to my phone.

My notifications and chat pushed instantly (basically) ... my girlfriend tested it across the room from me lol
:::shrugs::: idk why some would and some wouldn't...
 
Mine are pushing to my phone nicely (friend accepts, wall posts, photo comments all working) but I am not getting sounds or vibrate no matter how I set it. Odd, but still might get me back into FB like I was with my Blackberry.
 
Push updates are not working for me. I am running the latest software, 2.2.1 and can't figure out how to get them to work. Notifications are set to active and I have tried everything it seems to no avail.

What settings do you have? I'm not getting any notifications pushed to my X

Those don't count lol

A friend with a Droid is getting them. I'm seeing extremely mixed reports in other forums with all phones... X, Evo's, SFs - anything. Nobody is getting consistent results with the update.
 
I wonder if it has something to do with the social networking app that seems to take control over the facebook app.
I'm not getting push either.

I removed that via root

EDIT: I hadn't removed friendfeed.apk. So I just did. Received an email notification right after but nothing from the app. It may have been too soon.
 
yeah nothing seems to Push to my phone. I get a message thing in the notifications area only after i open the FB app. Sucks, i want everything to directly push.
 
I played with the chat last night and it seemed to work.
I also tried using the speech to text button in swype for chat. It would encode the speech but it took the text input window into a mode where I couldn't send the text.
