I've tried it with and w/out the social stuff. I've tried it with and w/out intervals on. I've tried it with notifications off lolSeems as if I'm not getting notifications either. I froze all of the "social networking" stuff using titanium. Does anyone who has those frozen get the push notifications?
What does notification interval actually do? Seems like people are getting updates immediately, even if the lowest notification interval is 30 minutes.
For people getting push notifications, what do you have that set at?
It doesn't matter whether email notifications are on or off in the facebook site settings, right?
Chat works for me- Droid X. However-- it is DESTROYING my battery. 10AM, took the phone off the charger at 6:30- I'm at 60%. Facebook partial wake usage through the roof.
That's odd. Mine has been off the charger for 90 minutes now and Facebook notifications are coming in and I'm still at 100%. Facebook doesn't even register on my battery usage list.
Do you have the latest update? It seems most of the people that I have been reading with it working are on 2.2 and most with it not working have devices with 2.2.1. I wonder if facebook's app doesn't recognize 2.2.1 as supporting push.
2.2.1. Everything works great.
If only there was an easy way to figure out why some people are getting push notifications while others aren't. It shouldn't be that complicated. I have my notifications set to active, 30 minutes polling, all boxes checked except for vibrate in the notifications settings in facebook. Not using any blur social networking features. My phone is rooted but using the stock software, only have it for a few basic things. I have cleared the cache for facebook, uninstalled and reinstalled and still no luck. Very frustrating.
I just had a moment of Zen here. I wonder if this more or less has to do with Facebooks servers and individual accounts and not the app itself? I know I have seen some people in the past for example say "I don't like the new Chat feature." when it comes to the website and people reply "What new Chat feature? I didn't get that yet." only to get it a day or so down the road. Something had to update on whatever sever/database their account was located on in order for the new stuff to show and work. Maybe that's just it for the majority of us whose phones it is not working on. I did read a comment by someone who said at first it didn't work for them after the update, but they woke up today and after a few more hours it was working all of a sudden. Just a thought.
That's realy interesting, landale. Facebook is killing my battery as well. Since that update, and I can promise you that that was the only update I had installed this week, my battery has been down at 40% after unplugging it for 8 hours. I used to be able to retain a charge up to 50% from 6am to 6pm, but not anymore. I'm running FRG83 rooted via Peter Alfonso.Do you have the latest update? Sorry for the double-post, but I just dialed *#*#4636#*#* into my phone and realized that it is indeed Facebook that's causing a partial wakelock for a total time of 7m 27s since last unplugged 6:30am (time now 10:06am). The app using partial wakelock the most at 15m 6s is the Android system, which I'm assuming is normal, but Facebook is right underneith that. I don't know if this should be happening..
Agreed. This is ridiculous. Push notifications should come to the phone even when the FB app is closed and not running. K-9 works great, Gmail works great, why can't FB? It can't be THAT hard to get it to work right...
