Help Facebook sync is getting on my nerves!

That works, but doesn't solve the problem. Any time you search for a contact, the FB list will be there.

I tried it both ways, but those contacts are still showing up in my list either way. :mad:
 
What would be BEST is that if there was a way to bring up the People view when the phone dialer icon is selected INSTEAD of bringing up the list of all people (the dialer list).

Not sure, but if you've synced your FB contacts you should be able to just open the People app, hit menu -> view. Then uncheck FB. Your FB contacts should not be displayed now.

Oh I know that, I was just referring to my "all contacts" which is what shows up when I search contacts (like to place a call or send a txt). Is there a way for that to be only "People" (where I only have my contacts)

So when you open People your FB contacts still show up?
 
nah, i am having the same issue.

when you "search" your contacts for a name, it still pulls FB contacts.. even if you have them not shown in people.

I think he's saying that People shows only the contacts he wants to see. Can people be setup as the default display when opening the dialer/phone list or when searching contacts because now when you Search it brings up ALL contacts as opposed to just People.

No, I don't think it can be done. There's no way to filter who shows up in the contact list behind the dialer.

That's just how it is.
 
Yeah, I don't care for this either. If I go to the phone dialer, I get every single person I've ever met.

I deleted my FB account from FriendStream to correct this, but then of course I don't get the FB integration with my contracts. It's a good trade-off for me, because I'll gladly sacrifice pictures and status updates so I don't accidentally call someone I went to junior high with. But still, you'd think this would be an easy enough thing to correct.

Anyone has any tips, please let me know
 
yeah friendstream has been rendered totally pointless to me at this point.. i dont want a LOT of ppl having my number. plus, need a twitter app that lets me manage multiple accounts etc...
 
So I know there are third party messaging apps like Handcent and I saw one on appbrain called Contacts GroupU that manages the phonebook contacts. Maybe this could be used instead for both calling and searching (plus it has grouping capabilities). If it sees the Facebook contacts in the phonebook maybe they can at least be grouped into a Facebook folder and then ignored?
 
The FB contacts also show up on the Eris 2.1 software. There's no way to filter out contacts in the dialer. Anything that is synced shows up. So if it bothers you don't use the contact list in the dialer.

That's the same thing you do in People with the view setting.

Can you still get push notifications from Facebook?
Just to be clear, you turned off Facebook for HTC Sense? And all the FB links/ profile pics went away?
 
Did anyone ever find a solution for removing all my Facebook contacts that have there phone numbers listed under there profile from the Phone Dialer screen? I'm scared I'm going to call some ex-pyschopath girl friend from High School, LOL.

I want to clarify this... my People Contacts list I synced from Gmail and contains all friends, family, coworkers, and business contacts I call. There are NO FB friends in my People Contacts. The FB "friends" just show up in the Phone Dialer/Call History screen which I don't want.

I like Friendstream, but having all my FB friends show up on my dialer is very annoying. I'm leaning towards disabling Friendstream and just using the stock FB app.

I never had an issue with FB showing up everywhere. I remember when setting the phone up to only sync up my google contacts.
 
I don't have any questions, and I haven't taken ANY time to help anyone with theirs (Sorry) But DAMN NKT, you are ON IT!

The time you take to help out without being critical is TRULY impressive. Thank for being a big part of why forums like these are so nice to be a part of.
