Facebook - Update

Add me to the list. I had to uninstall as well. Phone wouldn't sleep. Uninstalled and went right to sleep

Perhaps it is just the contact sync that is eating our lives? If you're on an HTC ROM, you don't really even need the sync..

Could someone test installing but NOT syncing contacts, and see if the same behavior persists?

Refresh Interval: 1 Hour
Notifications: Active
Messages: Active
Sync Contacts: Don't sync

Those are my settings, I don't use HTC Facebook, only this app, and my battery is fine, and in my usage it never shows unless im on for long time, and my battery seems to be holding on...

IN Systempanellite, it is showing up as a Service, with around 18-20 mb used...

Everythings holding strong...

I think it's much better. BTW, I'm using Facebook for Android. How different is the Facebook from HTC? It seems to be 'on' all the time, how do I delete it? I'd rather use FB for Andoid...

Noticed today my phones awake time was way higher than it should have been, despite having used astro to kill applications repeatedly (noticed facebook kept opening itself back up), thought it may have been related to the facebook update and sure enough I log on here and I'm not alone. Just uninstalled and letting my phone sit for a few minutes to see if it will sleep now

I'm on the same boat as everybody. The new FB app will not allow my phone to sleep and is destroying my battery life :(

Question about Facebook for Android:

Do I even need to have updates turned on? I don't use friendstream or any of the facebook widgets. I just open the program itself occasionally.

If updates are turned off, the news feed and whatnot will still be up-to-date when I open the app and go to newsfeed.....right?

Can someone tell me what "Sync Contacts" is supposed to do?

When I disable the HTCFacebook syncing and sync contacs through the Facebook app it doesn't give me pics for my contacs or news updates like the other, is it supposed to?

I also am among the many who 1) love the new update, 2) had to revert back because it was keeping my phone awake ALL THE TIME. Why does one hand giveth and the other hand taketh away??

Updated yesterday and noticed today my battery life was terrible. Phone wasnt sleeping. Uninstalled FB and reverted to what was originally on my Dinc and phone is sleeping like a baby now. Will wait for a fix to upgrade again.

My phone has been sleeping ok with the new FB.

*shrug*

Maybe folks should start a poll of those who have a problem, and the OS/ROM they are running.

Me: Froyo FRF91, latest leak with the tweaks I normally do for my Sense based roms.

I'm using a Nandroid of Adrynalynes first froyo personal rom and i'm also not having any FB issues...

Of the people that had battery issues how many are sync'ing contacts?

I'm running stock rom with sync'ing every 1 hour without issues but I don't sync contacts.

I was using FriendStream, decided to give the new app a change. Looked nice until I got the same battery issue as the rest! Uninstalled. Then FriendStream didn't work anymore. Had to clear out its account data to finally get things back to normal. Is the Twitter app somehow involved in all of this as well? I tried it also in lieu of FriendStream.

On my Captivate, it doesn't seem to be killing my battery but I now have a ton of phonebook entries for everyone.
I'm apparently the onlyone here that likes syncing contacts.
I think it's cool that while still in the address book, I can see all of someones facebook photos and updates.

I noticed that after the update it turned on refresh to 1hr which previously I had set to Never. I work during the day so I don't care if it refreshes when I'm busy. I run a manual refresh when needed.

That said, I noticed low battery live by lunch, set the refresh back to Never and my normal battery life came back. I am pretty sure it's auto refresh is causing the issue for most of you.

Right now I am at 24.04 hours uptime with 10:26 hours awake. Most of that was gained last night while I was playing games before bed, some was probably from the update before I caught it at lunch and turned off refresh.

I set the refresh to Never and uptime still equaled awake time.

Deleted the updated app (automatically reverts back to the factory installed facebook app) and my phone goes to sleep again.

Really liked it but had to revert back to stock as it was also keeping my phone awake. May try again with refresh to never, I didn't even look at that , I always had it set to never

The new app looks great, but like most of us, I went to bed and woke up with 14% battery life. Facebook was keeping the phone awake. Uninstalling. I'm running 2.1 with sense (stock).
