Root factory reset equivalent for a rooted phone?

I keep reading you can't factory reset a rooted phone so what can I do for an equivalent "clean up" in a lagging, freezing rooted phone?

Phone is lagging, gets stuck often etc. It's a rooted optimus V with Clockworkmod 3.2.0.1

PS. Any step by step guide? I have titanium backup installed but not a clue about the whole "back up apps/flash (or restore ROM?)/restore apps" procedure.

PLEASE answer only if you have useful information. It's the fourth time I ask this on different websites and all I hear is "just get a new phone" and "a factory reset will brick your phone". This last one over and over just written slightly different.

I wrote "Using LGNPST 1.3 to FULL Stock ZV5" look at all threads started by me, or if someone can link him because I'm using my phone....or you can Google it.
 
Like I said, I deleted those threads. It Really tips me off getting responses that don't even remotely approach an answer to the actual question.
 
You can do two different things.
1: Go to your custom recovery (This should have been installed right after rooting) and select only the "wipe data/factory reset" option. This will wipe all user data just like a factory reset from the privacy setting on the phone.
2: Go to the recovery and wipe and format everything necessary for a ROM install, then install a custom ROM (and the Gapps if necessary).

beautiful!!! I had a remote idea that something like this was the needed procedure but wouldn't wonder into it alone as I can't afford to brick my business' phone. Finally I get a reply that contains the answer to my question.
