OK, so I think the best way to find the balance of "people I tend to piss off with my UI-and-usability research studies" versus "actually posting this stuff so someone can find it if they're looking"... I think having just one easily-ignored thread should be suitable. Of course, if even this isn't acceptable... I mean jeez, I might as well just work for Google or something, so I don't have to consult the community before fixing this stuff.

We already know about the Dalvik-Cache issue...
And I had posted about an issue with the Velocity script that totally hosed my phone, but despite my entire night of documenting and writing the causes and solutions, all I got in return was a "f**k off, you f***ing noob" in no uncertain terms. So all my research and documentation on that subject was deleted... don't really care to recap the effects of the actions I took to repair it. All in all, I lost a month of texts (thanks to an online backup I restored) and a few settings, but everything else could be re-enabled and restored.

As I find things to gripe about, I'll just add them to this easily ignored thread. And in an effort to keep the bickering to a minimum, I won't respond to negative criticism (trolling) at all, unless it's a direct clarification question asking about more details. Talk about an exercise in restraint. :p

So that's it for now... just let this thread sink if you don't care for it. But I think this is the best solution to make everyone happy... easily ignored, all in one place :D

This board is a great place to ask questions when you need help and for developers to share all the cool things they are making the Ally do.
As far as everyone having a personal "things to gripe about" thread, I don't believe it would have any usefulness to the community as a whole and would quickly degenerate into flame wars. If your just going to gripe about things your going to get negative criticism, that's just human nature. Maybe it would be better placed in the http://androidforums.com/android-news-talk/ forum. Just my two cents.

And savoxis did address your Dalvik Cache issue and wrote a script to clear files that could be left behind here http://androidforums.com/ally-all-things-root/305583-dalvik-cache-cleaner-script.html but you still choose to be disruptive about the issue and don't bother to show appreciation for those who try to help.

You're right... I don't think a "whine and complain" thread serves any purpose. I realized I mis-titled this thread in that regard... I didn't intend to make just a "whine dump" thread here. It's intended to be more of a "things I've seen that could stand to be improved, in these ways" thread. So it's more of an issues & resolutions thread, really. Things I find that don't operate as they appear to be designed, or things that operate in a way that just doesn't work well for the end user. That's what I intend to focus on here, not just "i wish my phone would do the dishes too" :)

As for the comment about the D-C cleaner, well... I'll just have to exercise my restraint there, but you haven't seen the whole story, let's just say that much and leave it at that.

Hi. :)

So - I was in the neighborhood and I gotta say, I'm a little confused.

It sounds like this thread is going in several directions at once.

So - let's review:

Posting opinions about whatever, done politely - that's ok.
Inventorying what is liked and not liked about a phone - that's way ok.

But - if there's some underlying personal exchanges without some kind of closure and this thread becomes a lightning rod for them - well, that's kinda not ok.

Goes against the basic rule - attack issues and not other posters.

Now - FalconFour - I'm not accusing you of anything, it's just as I say - your OP is little confusing as to which way you want to go, so I'm just clarifying to make sure we all stay happy and square. ;)

I am just going to say one thing here and then I will leave this post forever.

If you think we where bad, try posting your dalvik-cache post on XDA. I think you will be surprised at how blunt people can be.

It was only mentioned once, but once is all it needs to be mentioned:

He very well may have valid points on the issue that he has raised. He is adamant enough about it that he has provided more information in his posts than anyone else here to the contrary.

And @EarlyMon: I agree there too. I don't want this thread to become a lightning rod for unclosed debates, but I kinda think that's the only thing on peoples' minds right now... the best I can do is succinctly bring those topics to a close with gratuitous use of the "backspace" key (I wrote a lot more in that last paragraph but... I really don't think it's worth going on about), and move on with life. There's really no other place to talk about it, and well... as long as we can keep it to a brief exchange, I think we should be alright. I've definitely learned one thing from the D-C thread: this forum can easily turn into an uncontrolled bubbling, frothing rage, so... sometimes I just oughtta close the thread and walk away. :P

I think this would be off to a better start if I actually had some issues to post about at the moment, but the only things I have are things I've already dug up elsewhere. Maybe I'll take a moment later to go over a few of the things I posted on the Google boards about... like the browser "stop" button, the "alt backspace" thing, and the UI task-layering confusion ;)

I think you just made your point of where you want to go with this thread, ("things I have are things I've already dug up elsewhere") your trying to revive an old thread that was already locked by moderator. http://androidforums.com/lg-ally/30...al-design-flaw-just-boneheaded-oversight.html
If you "actually had some issues to post about" then cool, but as you stated this is not the case.
