I would go by verizons customer reviews rather than what you see here. Everybody already has a login there. More complaints and issues will be here. Im completely satisfied with the phone.

Do not get a Fascinate. From my visit to Korea I was able to play around with the actual Galaxy S. Not the American versions. From what I heard there, they actually downgraded the processor and Samsung has a crappy UI. Also based on previous Samsung phones that I've played around with, Samsung can't make phones for crap. Remember the Alias 2? My point exactly. Only reason that Samsung is such a big company is that it's such a big company. Nobody can mess with them. They've got their hands on everything from cellphones, electronics, airplane parts (i know right?), construction, and even cars. Do not get the fascinate. It's just a crappy phone in general. The inc totally kicks ass.
@Jedii - thanks for posting the pics. Mod ? - anyone running Cyanogenmod6 on Inc or Galaxy S? I'll search around some more on here; did find several vs threads I should have looked for before starting another one!
Hmm. Wow. I really do not know how to reply. Let me try and pick apart your great paragraph:
Downgraded the processor? No, it is a 1ghz processor UNDERCLOCKED to 800mhz (for battery life).
Samsung Alias 2....Lets compare the 1989 Ford Mustang to the 2011 Ford Mustang.....Not a fair comparison, so don't even try. Comparing the Alias 2 to the Samsung Fascinate doesnt even make sense.
If they are such a bad company, why do so many other manufacturers use their products? Even other android devices (screens, internal radios, etc...).
They're a big company because they're a big company? That confuses me......
Ok, you do really there is a WORLD of difference between building components and designing an integrated device, right? They are ENTIRELY different worlds. Samsung has a history of terrible engineering (both hardware and software) in integrating their devices. Samsung smartphones have in the past been good component sets put together in crappy packages. The Incredible is good components in a very well thought out package. On paper the Samsung has the edge for most users, but IRL the Incredible is just a better device.
WHy release a phone with older software? Everyone knew 2.2 was comming out, why not wait and make it better by puttign 2.2 on it?Dumb? Doesnt have newest flash because its 2.1 not 2.2. Can do google search, you must turn off Bing as default. Screen is super amoled and has the highest resolution of any android device. Icons can be changed by downloading a free launcher.
We are comparing devices not hating on either one. Help the OP.....
But that wasnt my point. I was arguing his point. Alias 2 vs Galaxy S isnt a fair comparison. You have to agree there.

WHy release a phone with older software? Everyone knew 2.2 was comming out, why not wait and make it better by puttign 2.2 on it?
I never said the screen wasnt the best
Why should I(the consumer in this scenario) have to download some 3rd party app to make my phone look different? Would you buy a car thats 3yrs older and has more miles than yours because it has 2-3 questionably "nicer" features? Then get hubcap covers because you dont like the hubcaps? Some ppl say yes to this, whatever.
I think that theres no reason to go backwards in phone. The camera is questionable, this dude rants about this samsung 5mp being better than the incredible 8mp, whatever. Fact remains its 5mp vs 8mp. "Same" processor, no reason to change for that. Like whats supposed to be better about this phone? Ok its got a little better resolution screen and its a few centimeters bigger. Oh boy.
Last few times Samsung took a shot at a phone that does more than text/call and keyboard, we got the Omnia I & II, and anyone who has ever seen either is going, oh jeeze..
I think that was more of a "do you remember that phone? No, of course you don't, it blows" kinda statement. Look samsung imo makes inferior phones. I love my Omnia but it took 8 months to get gps, plus check out the captivate section. There are some REALLY unhappy people, shisty gps, random restarts, problems with email. To me that is proof that samsung don't know how to put all the pieces together for a good product.
And lastly Touchwiz....... need I say more
Just my $0.02
Yea i defiantely like the phone. Dont get me wrong. Im comming off a little hot. And ppl on the galaxy boards felt teh same way as you. Its a VERY nice phone. But its still not an upgrade to me. I work for Verizon(as you know, maybe), and i will be selling this phone as a basic starter droid, just like I sell the LG ally right now. The ally will be my downgraded Droid2 and Fascinate will be my downgraded X/Inc. Thats allRight right. I see your point. Very valid. perhaps i just took your previous post wrong.
Side note.....Gotta give samsung a little credit here on the Galaxy S lineup though. Consumers are much happier with this lineup than the *sighs and pouts* omnia lineup.
I did the manual update.zip and i did experience some minimal lag. after doing a reset, my phone never falters. i couldnt be happier with it. my battery life has also improved quite noticeably with 2.2
appreciate all the feedback! I have an old antique LG flip phone that i'm replacing w/ 1 of the upgrades. Have to see what the smartphone does to my already expensive family share plan. I have a BBerry BOLD9000 on ATT that's company provided; and agree - TONS of dropped calls on ATT (would not buy a device on their network). Love the white backed Incredible that just surfaced and will have to tinker with both phones a bit in the VZW store when i goto pick/upgrade.
It did it for me.
To be honest, the Incredible will drop a lot of calls! It drops many more than my Dare or any other phone did. It's starting to get annoying.

This phone is living proof that anything can be amazing when run on android software.

Well look at boost mobile and the I1.. it runs on 1.5 android but the phone is nearly indestructible even has the military dod stamp on it as well.

look Samsung is HUGE!!!!!! while your mulling over buying a cell phone these guys are producing amoled screens and super amos for the cellular industry want to get bigger scale. While you are deciding on one of their cell phones they are inking a deal on revamping S Koreas Sattelite defense and military defense grid which is Biliions with a B. Samsung does not make the greatest phone in the worlld then again well they dont want to because as soon as its released its old technology now. so they produce phones with lots of gimmicks on them so kids and teens can go say hey look what my ohone can do. Not to mention Japan is like 2 gens ahead of us in cell technology. Their cell phones are COMPUTERS and does it all and then some.
Last few times Samsung took a shot at a phone that does more than text/call and keyboard, we got the Omnia I & II, and anyone who has ever seen either is going, oh jeeze..
Maybe. But his question was "would you trade up for the Galaxy?", and my answer is no.
IF I were to be looking to upgrade right now and my choices were between the HTC and the Samsung, I would still go with the HTC. Right now at least.
I never get phones the day they are released. There is more to picking a phone than just comparing the spec's. And I never buy new release products, especially electronics. I want until they are out in the market and there are lots of actual user reviews of it. I want until I can get my own hands on it to play around. Just because the spec's look good or the device is aesthetically pleasing doesn't mean it's going to be a good device when actually in use.
That's just my opinion. Phone's are just like anything else, it's mostly personal preference. For instance, you couldn't pay me to use an iPhone, yet there are plenty of people who swear by them.
Uhm...what? I didnt drop a single call until like 3days ago. And i cant be surprised. Ive turned my phone into a Transformer with all the crap ive done to it lolTo be honest, the Incredible will drop a lot of calls! It drops many more than my Dare or any other phone did. It's starting to get annoying.
Im one of the few salesman out there, that Ive seen, that actually beleives in qualifying people for items. Now im not gonna get into it because everyone has different opinions, but you need to find which phone will honeslty make you life easier. In this case your just debating phones with all the same capabilities, but maybe one does it better. In my mind, the DInc is the best phone ever released, Verizon or not, hands down best phone ever made. But goto any other phone forum on this site and your gonna hear other ppl say the same about their phones. So i guess it comes down to preference. Hope this helpsSo this is my question for you, what phone do YOU believe (Out of ALL of the Android smartphones at Verizon) is the "best"? Or is it more of a personal preference thing? The main reason I ask is because you have had probably more hands on time than anyone else with these phones and im having a devil of a time trying to make a real decision.
So far its neck and neck with the Droid X and Incredible, but the more I look at and see the Fascinate, the more im intrigued. Im hoping to run down to Verizon tomorrow and talk to them for a bit and get a lil one on one action with each phone for really the first time.
lol?The truth of the matter is this:
Whether you like TouchWiz or not (which you can replace with a launcher anyway), the Galaxy S phones are currently the fastest android phones out. Period.
Whether you plan to buy one or not, you should go check it out. The screen is the BEST screen on any smart-phone today. Period.
All of you people dissing on the phone without even having seen one sound like iphone-fan-boys. Stop comforting yourselves. Incredible has been out for months... is it so surprising that a newer phone has come out that beats it? Of course not.
Instead of whining, go look at the phone and then tell HTC to release their own hardware that can beat the Galaxy S.
Competition is a good thing, even among android devices
